^^^ I'm hoping Knightfall is wiped from continuity by the current crisis, that was the end of my Bat reading.

I actually passed on the new Titans book, and that's hard for me to say as a collector who's nearing a complete TT set. I'd made my decision after seeing a review that started off with the word "wretched."

If you guys think it might be worthwhile, I might head back and pick it up.

It certainly wasn't wretched. There just isn't much of a team element in this issue. The issue basically dedicates about 2 pages to each member of the classic "New Teen Titans" team as a kind of "what are they doing now on their own" sort of thing. Each segment concludes with something strange happening to bring them together by the end. It's very much a prelude and very reminiscent of DC Comics Presents #26 (the first appearance of the "New Teen Titans").

That was the "Prodigal" storyline which was actually quite good. I've mentioned this one recently in another thread. Throughout much of the late 70s and 80s there was always this tension between Bruce and Dick. The Prodigal storyline appeared to finally resolve all that. But unfortunately it didn't seem to last that long. Sometimes I think when there's a change of writers on Batman they don't read the previous writer's work.

Even in this new issue of Titans there's a segment with Nightwing and Batman where Dick chastises him by saying "I really didn't need your help!".

I just read "Titans" #1 this morning, and it wasn't a bad start, especially for Winick. I usually don't like him, but I enjoyed his run on Outsiders, so maybe it'll have that same kind of vibe. I don't know if I'll subscribe, but I'm at least planning to get the next issue. I was really hoping that all of those characters in the special(except Cyborg and maybe Hawk and Dove) would die. Now it looks like they might pull through, except Powerboy. I think a lot of the recent additions to the Titans family(Little Barda, Kid Devil, etc) are pretty lame. I just can't bring myself to care about any of them, except Ravager. I do have to say that I really like the costume Donna wore when she came home from outer space. The black jumpsuit with red stars is pretty sharp, and she's wearing her star bracelets again!

Donna Troy seriously needs to get a super-hero name...it bothers me that she still doesn't have one. How many years has it been now? Personally it wouldn't bother me if they killed off Cassie Sandsmark and made Donna "Wonder Girl" again.

I agree about the new additions to the Titans family...except for Ravager (who goes back aways anyway), they're all knock-offs of C-list heroes. Yes the original Titans were sidekicks, but they worked in conjunction with their respective mentors...they weren't wannabees just ripping off the name.

^^^^ I like Kid Devil alot also,.. I think he works. Kinda the Mental unstable guy,... seems to work out great for the Teen Titans roster.

They Better not kill off Cassie,... bad enough they Killed Conner. I still think Donna Troy should be Called "Double D " For her SuperHero name.

I was never a fan of Kid Devil when he was a kid in Blue Devil's old book...bleech!
(Speaking of which, I wish they'd make Blue Devil a fun hero again!)

It's ironic,.. I was never a Fan of Blue Devil,.. sure he looked kinda neat,.. & he would make a very cool custom,.. but I like Kid Devil as a character before him. I thought the direction of the character was very entertaining,.. & was one of the only reasons I kept Buying Teen Titans. ... & That & my Bad Girl Ravanger,.. & the love interest of Robin & Cassie..... Man,.. this crap is worse than a Soap,.. & I know, because I have been watching General Hospital again for the last few months here & there..... Can you Believe Sunny is still alive ? Or Scorpio's Brother is now the Head Honcho of the Police department ? Robins all grown-up too & rather hot...

^ Not to get off topic but I remember Robin Scorpio when she first appeared as a 5 year old girl so I have a hard time looking at her like she's an adult (which she is apparently!)

Yes, Donna needs a superhero name. How about Phoenix Lite? That's kind of the impression I got of her with all the death and rebirth stuff.

And that's another thing about this Titans book, if it remains readable. You know that it's going to cross over with Teen Titans, just like the Outsiders did. I was just getting ready to cancel TT, because it's been absolute garbage lately. So on one hand, I'm almost going to have to keep subscribing to it for now. On the other, maybe it will force their writing team to come up with something better than what they've been crapping out every month.

Just read Titans #2 and I must say, in my opinion, it's worthless. It's such an insult to TNTT characters that I was disgusted after I read it. Plus, the artwork is horrible and not right for the Titans. They made WonderGirl look like some 80's tramp with huge hair. (Heck she looked much better IN the 80's than this book.). Beast Boy's appearance switches from an ugly elf to an old man through the panels, and the girls are way too skinny and the guys have huge fish lips most of the time. Also, the dialogue didn't flow smoothly at all. I don't want to spoil it for anyone (though you can't spoil such a trash story) but one example I'm talking is that during a serious time, Donna Troy made a comment about feeling like she was back wearing a ponytail and a red leotard and Starfire remakrs it must of been cute. They're in the middle of a bad situation and they're commenting on stuff like that out of nowhere? So stupid. And another thing that had me mad was how they portrayed Raven. I know her to be a quiet reserved empath who must control her emotions. Well in this book she's b*tching at everyone like crazy. It's horrible characterization. Also, in one scene of the book, her costume changes to something skimpy FOR NO DANG REASON. Also, her hair became dreadlocks in that scene. I don't understand it at all, but I do know that I hated it. Oh and might I add that Nightwing had only like 3 statements in this whole issue?

It's as if the writers haven't read any Titans stories themselves and are just making up their own characters using the familiar image of the Titans and completely ruining them without any respect.

If anyone likes how the story is going along so far, I have no problem with that as we all have opinions. But as for my opinion, I can't stand how this story is going. (Could you tell :P) This title is an absolute disgrace in my eyes. I'm going back to the 80's Titans to read some GOOD storylines.

Winnick never should have been handed this book...especially since he's trampling on the hallowed ground created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez. I haven't read issue 2 yet but I was disappointed in story and art when Trigon showed up at the end of #1. Story wise it was like "been there, done that" and the art was crappy (nothing like the tight pencils of Perez). Yes I'm comparing this to the original....they should expect as much when it seems that they're ripping off the original.

This had train wreck written all over it. Glad I avoided it. I love these characters, but they deserve far better. Last time we had to suffer through Devin Grayson on this title, now its Winnick. I'd love to see a solid writer take a stab at these characters. If they won't give it back to Wolfman, how about Geoff Johns? He's only writing 20 books a month now, right?
