RIP Paul Ryan...Avengers and Fantastic Four Artist

This just blew me away this morning:

It doesn't say how he passed...but it is still shocking to say the least. RIP Paul.

And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
    The beauty that surrounds them
    Isn't it a pity".

Yes, he was a good solid artist, nothing fancy but clean and attractive work. Reminded me of the Jerry Ordway style.
I have a very nice framed Marvel History lithograph poster he did for Dynamic Forces.
    RIP.

Bummer. Yeah, he never achieved the lofty heights of Neal Adams, Kirby or some of today's modern breed of comic artists, but his stuff was always clean and you could always tell what was going on in the panels. RIP, Mr. Ryan. Condolences to your family and friends....
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

He always reminded me a bit of a more modern Curt Swan. I always enjoyed his stuff. Solid and dependable, and not concerned with chasing passing fads.

        RIP.

I was lucky enough to visit with Mr. Ryan at a con several years ago and get this sketch. He was really nice. He was so appreciative when I asked him if Swan was one of his influences and said that his work reminded me of Swan's. He was really nice. We talked a little about his FF work and of course Superman. He had just began working on Phantom at the time.

The Squadron Supreme series he did with Gruenwald in the 80s was a favorite of mine.
