Jim Krueger just bought a Masterworks from me...

I find it really cool that I just sold a Masterworks to Jim Krueger. Love his Justice comic he did with Alex Ross as well as Earth X and Foot Soldiers. I have never sold anything to a famous person before...let alone a comic book writer that I have read. Very cool. Just geeking out

And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
    The beauty that surrounds them
    Isn't it a pity".

I once sold a Richard Corben Swamp Thing to Guillermo Del Toro. Sent it to an address in Los Angeles. Ironically, I had just seen him do a talk about Alfred Hitchcock in Toronto's TIFF Lightbox (he was filming Pacific Rim in Toronto at the time).

Not comic related, but I sold some vintage Captain Action stuff to Jeff Dunham after one of his shows. He gave us tickets to his show and my wife and I hung around afterwards to meet up with him. Obviously he was a cool guy and during the show he even read one of my submitted Ask Walter questions. Jeff's a huge Batman fan, and owns one of the original Batmobiles from the Burton era movies.

Dunham is one of the best comedians out there. I've enjoyed his act since I first saw him on Rosie Odonnell's stand up comedy show on VH1 many years ago. Basically it was just Peanut the Jalepeno on a stick. Ddin't know he was that much of a Batman fan. You've got to be really committed to buy one of the Batmobiles from the newer movies

Here's an article regarding his Batmobile. He sent me an email with some additional pictures of it.

              http://comicbook.com/2015/04/05/come...era-batmobile/

In 2012 there was a video interview at SDCC where he had the Batmobile. He shared this additional info about it shortly after that.

              From Jeff Dunham:

For Batman (Keaton), two Batmobiles were made and used in the film. For Batman Returns (Keaton), those same two Batmobiles were used as was a third one which was used as a stand-in for some of the shots... That's the one that Warner Brothers for some odd reason let go of, and I purchased two years ago third-hand. The first two are still owned by WB and are at the studios in Burbank.

There are numerous knock-offs of the Keaton, (some sanctioned by Warners; most not,) but this particular one has all the paperwork from Warner Brothers and DC comics, and is the actual #3 car used in the making of Batman Returns... And believe me, the lawyering that went back and forth between me and them to make sure the car was truly legitimate was a very thorough and lengthy process. It ended up happy for everyone: Understandably, they are very protective and cautious with who owns a piece like this, an d what is or will be done with it.

My guys and I have restored it to absolute original camera detail, including a repaint and adding back into the satin black finish a bit of fine green metallic. Details like that were all per Andy Smith who was head of shop for building the first two cars, and who also designed and built the Tumblers for the current Dark Knight trilogy. (awesome machines)

We took a few liberties under the hood and replaced the very sad small block Chevy 350 and installed an LS7 Corvette engine. For any gear heads out there, we also installed a Ride Tech suspension... Plus we took some of the toys in the dash and made them functional. For example, the video screen on the passenger side now works, and is divided into quadrants showing the views from four external hidden cameras. (No more blind spots) The car is now licensed, registered, and is street legal.

We've been talking to Make-A-Wish and have some great plans for good use in the not-too-distant future. Stay tuned for that...

After seeing our restoration, WB asked if they could use mine for Comic-Con, simply because both of theirs look, well... Not good. Remember the OnStar commercials w Batman? For those spots, they painted the vehicles grey... They showed up better on camera that color, vs the black satin used in the film which made the car hide in the shadows better. WB never put them back to black, and they're pretty beat to hell now too. Not good.

The 30 minute BM documentary that aired on Monday is great. The longer edit of that same documentary will be one of the extras on The Dark Knight Rises DVD, and I'm supposedly in it, with footage shot by them in and out of the car as I drove the Batmobile around LA. THAT was nuts.

So there's the story. And yes, it's fast.
