I didn't really even mean like that, he used to be this "not playing the game" type. Now, his intros and acting are so forced on Comic Book Men, he looks like one of those animatronic bears you see at Chucky Cheese.

Yeah, Mommy and Daddy are fighting and I don't know who i wanna spend my weekends with. One has better movies, the other has more beloved characters.

Really? I honestly thought this was common geek knowledge.

His directing career tanked awhile back. He then went on a "retirement" tour...which mutated into "Podcasting is god"...then ran to AMC...then back to directing. He lost all stroke with Marvel after the Disney buyout, but he had no pull with DC when Legendary was in charge. As Chris said, once Affleck indirectly took over, Smith became a ghost writer, which he denies but it's common knowledge he provides input.

It's part of the larger WB/DC mess where Affleck and Ratner are really the two in control, but because they're both so polarizing, and the current execs are afraid of getting sacked if Civil War out performs BvS, the bullseye falls on Snyder and Geoff Johns.

At some point, expect the "Do or Die Time For WB/DC" stories to start. There's a lot more at risk than people realize. This past week, Legendary merged/sold to Wanda, which is huge-huge. Legendary has been after ownership of DC since they produced Begins, but this merger now makes them big enough to buy WB entirely. It's pretty much inevitable, so expect a huge company change. I wouldn't buy stock in certain name people being in charge next year.

I get what you mean. It's a kinder, cuddlier Smith...who's willing to be that animatronic Chuck E. Cheese character...which made me laugh to no end by the way.

I think it really hit me when he popped up in the Lego Batman 3 video game as himself, "directing" a movie within the game!

Just watched the special. We certainly got lots of goodness to look forward to. We are in a golden age for these movies.

Watched the Legends of Tomorrow show and was pretty pumped up about that series. Then I watched the DC movie show and swung to polar opposite.
I've always been a DC fan first, especially of the Justice League. But all this? It's just so ...dark. They go on & on about the DC characters being so iconic and yet what they present is not that. Look at poor Aquaman...old grey templed Bruce Wayne...sorry, not for me.
And Kevin Smith was ridiculous...he's the new Funky Flashman for those who get that reference.
I will say the Harley Quinn girl looks good in the role, but Will Smith as Deadshot is stupid casting. He's no Floyd Lawson. Personally think they should have got Jason Lee for the part.

My thoughts on the JL special...

Superman looked great. Batfleck looked old. Wonder Woman looked meh. Flash looked like why the hell aren't they using Grant Gustin? Aquaman looked like crap. Cyborg...whatever. After screwing up all the others who cares?
And Kevin Smith was absolutely nauseating. I was literally waiting for him to break out pom-poms.

Switching from the (excellent) Cap special to the Justice League one was like going from A&E to the Home Shopping Channel.
My wife kept cringing whenever he spoke.

My major gripe with Smith is he never turns it off. I'd like to see him be honest and sincere once. It's why I can't listen to Fatman on Batman much, because he just can't stop all the juvenile bodily fluid comments, even when he's having a nice conversation with an interesting guest.

They were playing smodcasts on the radio one day, I remember being really distracted by how high he was.

I finally watched the DC special, and I think the most irritating thing was the hand gestures. Good gravy, if you tied his hands down, he couldn't speak. Someone do it!

While waiting for a show to start I put it on and fast forwarded his parts to the clips, it was really funny watching his hands fly around.
