How many Comic longboxes do you own?

Comics aren't for everyone but if they are for you, you're hooked. How many do you have?

I read a lot of comics in the late 70s as a kid (most were eventually tossed), then got even more into them as a teen when my friends and I discovered the local comic shop in the mid 80s.

But I didn't have a lot of money and was selective about what I bought. So in the period that I actively collected (let's say '82-86), I only acquired two long boxes worth.

I still have them. Buried in the back of a closet and I couldn't even tell you the last time I had them out.

Modern comics don't interest me in the slightest. What used to cost 35-75¢ is now is $4.99, and seems to have much less content than the books I used to read. No thanks, Tom Hanks

Don't do long boxes anymore. Hurts the back when lifting them. Short boxes...I'd say anywhere from 50 - 75. That's going to get weeded out soon enough to books I really want. Did a lot of unnecessary purchases back in the 90's like so many did back then.

at one time I had 12 or 13, I gave my brother 3 of them and sold off maybe 6...then I started dabbling in comics again for a brief time, prior to the new 52, so I think I have 8 or so now. would love to unload some of them but the modern comics are worthless and I can't bring myself to toss them

Back at the height of my collecting days, I probably anywhere from 20 to 25 long boxes, all full. As I've gotten older, I've been whittling down the collection to only those books and runs that have real meaning to me. I'm down to about five long boxes now.
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

Zero. I have some favourite issues in a tub somewhere. I guess if they were worth anything I'd get rid of them but I doubt the market for Mighty Crusaders and Gold Key Star Treks is all that grand.

Yeah I remember the 90's Comic boom. The funny thing is there wasn't much crossover media to fuel the added interest. We had the popular X-Men Cartoon and the Batman films but it sure wasn't what we have now. I make it a point not to collect any post 1979 comics and that keeps the collection to a reasonable amount. I was on a Ghost Rider kick instead of getting loads of junk, I just got a nice copy of Spotlight #6 for $9 and called it a day.

There is just something about those Marvel 20 cent covers. I love them. I dont care what book it is, they will always be my favorite. Maybe its because I was 5 in 1972 and this when I first started reading them. I dont know, I just think they are awesome.

I've got about 14 or 15 long boxes that haven't been opened in over a decade or two. Mostly runs from the 70's. I always thought I'd have a son or two that I could pass them on to, but I had two daughters who couldn't care less about them. Maybe I'll wait to see if I have any grandsons... If so, and he likes comic books, he's gonna have a magical day one day where he discovers grandpas old collection of comic books in the attic...

Down to just 3 long boxes,I don't think I'll get below that.

That sounds pretty awesome, actually. Or maybe granddaughters will like comics and grampa bonding.

I think I have 7, to I really need to go through them as my dog nibbled a few of them when she was a puppy.

I switched to short boxes for that reason as well. I probably have 45 + short boxes, and at least 25 manga boxes. Which are also great for storing DVD's, & video games.
