HOLY EVERGREENS! BATMAN FAN GROPES POISON IVY

the perils of being a scantily clad cosplayer ,having been a stallholder at these events for over 20 years and seen the rise of the cosplayer ,and some of the "socially awkward "males young and not so young that attend these events and gravitate towards the "glamour model "type of guest ,im surprised we don't see more of these things reported

    LANARKSHIRE

A Batman fan slipped his hand into the pants of a woman dressed as the caped crusader's arch enemy 'Poison Ivy' as they posed for pictures at a comic book fair.

Mechanic William Hazlie, 29, groped the victim’s bottom at the ComiCon event at London’s Kensington Olympia, Hammersmith Magistrates Court heard.

As she tried to get out of the comic book pose they had adopted he put his hand down her green hot pants and squeezed.

The 24-year-old victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was covered in green body paint and wearing wreathes of ivy leaves as part of her costume.

Hazlie was arrested at the scene and taken to Fulham police station where told police he had put his hand on the woman’s buttocks because he slipped and was ‘maintaining his balance.’

Magistrate Angela Cahill told him said: ‘Mr Hazlie, we have heard the evidence given by you and the victim and we found her evidence to be compelling with a clear and consistent version of events. - See more at: http://www.courtnewsuk.co.uk/#sthash.dGMaFiju.dpuf

Despicable person. Every time I'm at a con, I'm horrified they have to put up signs stating "do not touch Cosplayers", really? Some of us didn't get that?

Crawl back to whatever hole you came out of if you think you have a right to put your hands on people.

Unfortunately, there is an underbelly to fandom that gives creedence the old stereotypes of skeevy folks who have never touched a girl...so they take their chances. Despicable.

I don't believe that ... I think it's more of a perv trying to hide in fan circles.

If this guy did and got caught chances are he did it many times in the past.

Kinda like Mr Carlson on Different Strokes running a bicycle shop to get close to his victims.

That's a stretch even for Reed Richards

My Girlfriend talked about cosplaying as Supergirl at local Comic cons but the fear of being inappropriately touched or followed makes her have some reservations.

I believe it. I worked in a comic shop. Most of our customers were great folks. But there were a few that fit that scary, skeevy stereotype. I could see them do this easily.

My karate teacher ran a comic shop, he told me once that a small segment of his clientele probably only ever left the house to buy comics and that was a good thing for society.

I remember a complaint about one customer being extremely rude to the girl behind the counter, he said something to the effect "Women reject him, so they're the enemy."

It exists but it's not the norm as the media sometimes paint it.

^Definitely. I didn't mean to paint it as the norm...it's not. But there are guys who bring the whole hobby down by their anti-social and disturbing behavior.

Jeez, give you guys an actual, legitimate scenario to be politically correct (where are the stats that notable amount of con nerds are sexual predators), and you still call the nerd genre into this mess.

Mike's example might've been a stretch, but that has nothing to do with the point.

How about this: There's good & bad everywhere.

And til you can bring sonething to the table aside from anecdotal evidence of anything having to do with this subject, that's how it is.
"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris Mannix

From experience, I can also say it's the same in the martial arts scene. Lots of good people trying to do a positive thing followed by a small group of contemptible souls who have massive chips on their shoulder and/or extremely emotionally immature.

It just seems to me a dude who's afraid to touch a girl's behind if she's at the mall and wearing jeans would also be afraid to touch a girl's behind if she was half naked at a comic show.

In other words, a normal non perv guy no matter what his hobby is
