yeh i think these films are more for the modern comic readers i stopped reading them in the early 80s ,which was probably a good time to stop.Comment

They are characters that have been Defenders, just because they don't suit your unbending criteria doesn't change that.
I haven't bought comics since the mid 1990s but I still find these movies entertaining. To look at Chris Evans as Cap and be hung up on his uniform is weak because the characterization is spot on and joyous.Places to find PlaidStallions online: https://linktr.ee/Plaidstallions

yeh i think if you go into watching them like a new expendables you're ok it's just when you start comparing them to the original comics they fall apart.i do like the films as action movies .samurainoir mentioned marvel don't have the right to some of their characters maybe if they started a new team that has never existed with namor and the silver surfer as the founders that would be good because then you're not comparing it to anything what other characters do they not own the rights to.Comment

Evans' superb Cap is the linchpin of the MCU IMO. I feel almost guilty at how much I like seeing him punch Iron Man.
Black Panther looks fantastic and kudos to the filmmakers for giving him a proper faceless mask that doesn't concede actor vanity. Could those silver accents on the costume be vibranium?WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.Comment

Do not get me wrong, I really enjoyed Daredevil and Jessica Jones and I cannot wait to see the rest of the shows and then when they form a team. The psychological drama of these shows are hitting it out of the park for comic book related shows and comparing them to other comic book shows is just wrong.
I am just old school and bothered with titles, it just one of those thing that bothers me. When we finally get the Netflix Defenders I could have adjusted my thoughts. I am just happy to see a good take on comic book characters and cannot wait to see Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Punisher, Electra (maby Hellcat) on a team.
Now back on Cap:
Pay special attention to the scene in which General Ross (William Hurt) is talking to Cap about Cap's vigilante status.
"You've operated with unlimited power and no supervision," Ross says. "That's something the world can no longer tolerate."
The scene could be misdirection, but it appears Hurt is speaking directly to Captain America. The camera then cuts to someone (Hurt) passing a document to Captain America. But there's little trickery going on here. The person receiving the document has painted fingernails and is wearing rings — so it's probably Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) or Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) if Hurt is indeed talking to the Avengers.
The document is labeled "Sokovia Accords," and according to an eagle-eyed Redditor, its full title is "Sokovia Accords: Framework for the Registration and Deployment of Enhanced Individuals." Sokovia is the country that Ultron attacked and then levitated in an attempt to wipe out the world in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there's an established idea of holding Avengers accountable for the damage they've caused. Going by that logic, Sokovia's name is being invoked as part of a superhuman registration act — a piece of legislation that will make people with superpowers comply with the wishes of the government.
This is how the movie takes on the comic books.Last edited by monitor_ep; Nov 27, '15, 9:20 AM.Visit my wiki site:

I wasn't directing it at anything you said Eli, sorry if you felt that it was. I understand minor quibbles and share in some of course but I just couldn't fathom not enjoying this stuff because it isn't completely faithful to a vintage comic. They're not scripture and even the comics themselves have been changed every decade or so since I've been alive. It's all just disposable pop culture meant to entertain and they both succeed and celebrate each other.
I've seen it in Doctor Who fandom too, where people get super bent out of shape because the new series contradicts something William Hartnell did that nobody remembers And Tom Baker already contradicted. It must be tiring to be that way.Places to find PlaidStallions online: https://linktr.ee/Plaidstallions

PS I've never read Civil War so I don't know starts this mess but having it correlate back to Avengers 2 makes sense. Also Tony Stark's motivation would be one of guilt so that also seems plausible that he'd be the government poster boy.Places to find PlaidStallions online: https://linktr.ee/Plaidstallions

I never thought you did. I just have a problem with Marvel labeling this wrong.
As for Black Panther those silver highlights would be Vibranium.Visit my wiki site:

RDJ is a great Iron Man, but, to me, Stark isn't as likable as Rogers, and, regardless of RDJ's solid performances, I didn't gel with the Iron Man movies the way most others do....Sure, I was underwhelmed with Cap 2, but I thought the debut Cap film (T1stA) was really great---and it sent a precedent early on for me enjoying Evans' Cap to a large extent----kinda like how I feel about Reeve's Superman.
Evans---and, to some extent Ruffalo, are the main reasons I am hopeful for future installments that include large roster MU movies."No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris MannixComment

None of the movies or TV shows are straight up adaptations of the comics, but it's incredible how true to the spirit of the source material they are.
It's impossible to adapt Civil War or Winter Soldier comic story lines straight to the screen, but they have the bare bones down. An inciting incident sets up Captain America Vs Iron Man. One supports freedom/democracy and the other wants to maintain order. Neither is necessarily wrong and both are heroes, which makes this a compelling conflict. Particularly with friendships at stake within the Avengers team.
