I loved that Marvel series so much. I buy Who comics occasionally (mainly out of nostalgia) and I'd consistently rate them a meh.

The Doctor Who ongoing comic from Marvel featuring Tom Baker and then later Peter Davidson really drove me to seek out comic book stores as a kid since they were not available on the new stands. Somewhere in there I discovered the british Doctor Who weekly at certain comic book shops, but at that point it featured Colin Baker, so I cared not for those.

I really loved Abslom Daak, Dalek Killer as well. I mean how cool was a chainsaw sword to a kid? He was so diametrically opposite of anything that would ever appear in the Doctor Who TV show at the time, and so tonally off of what you expected from the Doctor Who universe. Like Judge Dredd or Axel Pressbuton suddenly crossing over with The Doctor.

interesting that they finally did a crossover with The Doctor... I'll need to hunt those down to read! (although I know very little about the McCoy Doctor)

I've checked out the other Titan Doctor books but they're really not that good...at least this series will feature Sarah Jane as companion. The fake companions they shove into the 10 & 11 books are so bad. I guess the publisher can't or won't license the tv characters or the actor's likenesses. I guess the exception is they can use the current companion (Clara) as long as she is on the show.
After re-watching those Breakfast with Baker shows on BBC I can only say Tom Baker was the best and those shows, even with the rubber monsters and such ( The Loch Ness Monster?!), still hold up and are. Much more entertaining than the way over complicated stories running today.

Love those DW issues of Marvel Premiere.
I also have the original versions of those stories in b&w as they first appeared in the Marvel UK Doctor Who Weekly comic.

The Abslom Daak stories were great. But the original Moore/Dillon 16 page story that ran in DWW issues 17-20 is still by far the best Daak story.

I've always wondered why the marvel comics run never included any companions from the show.

and I never understood what the deal was with the penguin.

I loved Frobisher and I'm pretty sure they included Ace in the comics.

IDW brought Frobisher back in the miniseries they did with the ten doctors. He was the best comics only companion.
Looking at the few Doctor Who Magazines I have... Peri was in the 6th Doctor's strip with him awhile. Ace with 7th but only a few times I think ? The 4th Doctor had K9. I'm sure the Brigadier and\or UNIT showed up somewhere?

Otherwise they used Martha, Donna, the Ponds, & Clara in the IDW comics. The aforementioned Ten Doctors series used just about everybody.
