They must have said "Superman" half a dozen times tonight. As well and Lois Lane, Clark Kent and Perry White. It's getting there.

And for those who paid attention to tonight's episode will know that Hank is really hiding something.

I enjoyed tonight's episode. Melissa Benoist's performance is the best thing about the show. I liked the references to the Third Doctor era of Doctor Who.

They said Superman at the beginning of the show. I think it may be more about NOT taking the spotlight from Supergirl. At least partially.

Yes, Henshaw was the original Cyborg Superman, but I believe Kara's dad Zor-El is the New 52 version.

I know these permissions can be dizzyingly complex, but I find it hard to imagine that the show would have permission to use Kal-El and Man of Steel but not "Superman." It seemed more like a creative decision than a legal one.

I was thinking through the whole fight he was the Persuader (hoping it was a lead-in for a Fatal Five appearance later) but Vartox wasn't jibing on my brain as the Persuader's real name. Only after the ep did I realize it's the name Superman's Sean-Connery-in-Zardoz villain.

For those who complain about the not calling him Superman:

I'm guessing that since it seems to be a formula that's working with THE FLASH and ARROW, the minds behind SUPERGIRL just decided it would be a good idea to carry it over on this show, too. I'm in agreement that Kara needs to fly primarily solo, perhaps with an occasional assist from Henshaw and Co.

Anyone disappointed that Vartox didn't look like Sean Connery in a speedo?

Fans of the show should feel encouraged. It was a huge ratings hit. Here's the story...

'Supergirl' stars Melissa Benoist as Superman's cousin, Kara Zor-El. The new CBS show recently got the highest ratings for a new show this fall. What led to its success?
