In comics, these stories are fine and fun. But it starts getting a tad silly on TV and movies.

      The Martian storyline.

First...Mars is too bloody close to Earth. Krypton was really far (and destroyed), that's fine. But Mars is still here and is one of the naked eye planets.

So humans were unaware of an existing Martian civilization? A civilization that had big white Martians attacking small green Martians?

And if the big white Martians are aggressive, super strong, and number in the millions...why have they not invaded Earth yet?

The story works in comics...but find it rather silly in the TV show.

I know, I know, suspend disbelief, Hector, just enjoy the show...yeah, I am, still watching Supergirl, don't worry...Ill keep going along for the ride, lol...
I don't think the martians had the ability to travel into space. J'onn was transported to Earth (eventually through time, once Mars was found to be without life) by Professor Erdel.

The time travel aspect could still be in play on the show. We don't really know how J'onn got here yet.

I don't see how this is harder to swallow than Krypton, as long as the time travel angle is kept.

Martian Manhunter origins have changed constantly through the years and are all over the place.

But you have a point about the time travel angle...

I really enjoyed the latest episode. Man, super heroes are inherently silly. I'm glad these shows are embracing it and running with it without making excuses.

^Exactly. I'm done with shows and films that feel embarrassed by their source material, and have to strip all of the gonzo fun out of it to make it work. Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, and to a lesser extent Arrow, prove that you can embrace the inner Silver Age, and still have an engaging show.

              I like Supergirl.

I get it that it may not be 'enough' for folks, but I like the fact that it isn't over the top, or in your face, or loud, or dark.

I think it's a wonderful show for kids and girls to latch onto.

I hope it survives for another season.

Arrow is getting a little lighter in tone which I like.

I agree. The producers said they wanted more like the Reeve/Donner movie so I watch with that in mind and it works.

                  SPOILERS FOR AN UPCOMING EPISODE

Anyone who remembers comics of the 80s, or the JLU animated series should recognize this:

Who ever thought we'd see THAT in live action?

Bizarro Supergirl wasn't bad. The fire breath and cold vision was pretty fun.

Yeah, tonight's episode definitely had a very comic booky vibe to it, but in a good way rather than a way that pokes fun at the source material. I really was hoping Kara would at least give Lord just a taste of heat vision, tho...

I enjoyed tonights episode, Imho, I feel that the show has gotten better with each episode! Even tonight's flight and fight scenes where better executed, than previous episodes! I'm hoping it's given a second season!
