Why so are there so many Darkseid action figures?

You know, the thought occurred to me today that there are loads of Darkseid figures spanning just about every DC toy and action figure line made. I have nothing against the character I am just a bit confused why he gets so many figures while other more mainstream recognizable or popular DC villains get overlooked or get far less figures.

It's just hard to imagine he is popular enough to warrant that many figures. He is kind of bland looking too in comparison to other villains and generally seems to be a peg warmer.

    Any ideas?

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Yeah,.. I dunno. I count 3 From DC Direct,.. 1 from DC Universe & Ofcourse the Super Powers one. Is there More ? I think the Character warrents More Action figures than he Has imo. Luthor Has like 50,.. & he's a P-ssy.

There's also the Superman animated line, JLU, Minimate, Total Justice. There have been quite a few, he even got his own BK meal toy with the SUperpowers line.

He also got figures in Superman animated series, Total Justice, Justice League and even a figure in one of Art Asylums short lived C3 Lego wannabe sets. He just seems to get a whole lot of action figure love for his so-so level of mainstream popularity.

        Tbolt beat me to it.

The "Idea" of DarkSied to me,.. is the ICON OF EVIL in the DC Universe. It's a shame that DC Don't do more with the character,.. Perhaps they Will With Final Crisis. I like seeing his Action Figures Myself,.. & They are hard to find up here. I'd rather see Darksied,.. & Many of them than another Luthor anyDays.. & That goes for the Next Superman Movie too,.. Whenever that is.

DC Direct has released Darkseid as part of a boxed set with Orion a few years back and this year he's part of a four-figure New Gods assortment. In addition to the already mentioned ones from Super Powers, JLU, Total Justice, DC Universe, Superman Animated, Minimates....

The Episodes of the Superfriends Super Powers show where he's in love with Wonder Woman are hysterical.

I remember seeing an entire wall of unsold Darkseid at Simpsons in the mid eighties, he lacked the flash the other characters clearly had. He then hung around on the shelves again during the Total Justice era.

Hasbro got wise since then and he seems to be kind of a short pack character. I really like the character but he's not much to look at.

The Super Powers Darkseid figure was one of my favorites at the time...Total Justice, not so much. I didn't like that grabber-mechanism that was grafted to his arm.

^ You weren't missing much...I liked the initial run of heroes (Fractal-Gear armor aside)but the villains, Darkseid and Despero, looked a little crappy to me...

I didn't know they made a Despero Either.
But I did only have about 30 bucks a month I could spend on Toys at the time,.. so my Tunnel vision was pretty thick.

Yeah, the Craptal Tech Gear armor aside, I think the worst thing about the Total Justice line was there was only three villains and they really sucked. No Joker, Lex Luthor, Catwoman, ect. No, no, no, we got Despero, Parallax and Darkseid with a claw permanently stuck to his hand. What the hell Kenner? What the hell?
