^I think it's the other way around. The movies follow various elements from different iterations of the comics (616 "standard" Marvel Universe, Ultimate Universe), and the animated series follow their lead, and in some cases telegraph what the movies are planning to do, because they are all connected through Marvel Studios/Disney.

a small part of me was disappointed that Falcon didn't have an uncomfortably telepathic relationship with a real Falcon, did not wear a chest baring red and white vest, did not have tassels on his boots, nor red feathers on armpit wings, and was not a mind controlled former pimp ("racketeer"). I got over it pretty quickly.
I also feel we were robbed (ROBBED I tells ya!) of the obviously crucial scene in Avengers Age of Ultron where CG de-aged Michael Douglas confronts this impish mechanical rapscallion. There is obviously some high dramatic tension inherent in this that was somehow missing from the actual Ultron reveal in the movie.
