    NBC Powerless (??)

NBC has picked up the pilot for Powerless, a half-hour single camera comedy set in the DC Universe, Deadline reports.

The series is created by Ben Queen (A To Z), and will be set in one of the worst insurance companies in the United States. The show will focus on the working life of normal humans in the DC Universe.

While the list of DC Comics characters appearing on the show hasn’t been worked out yet, rumors suggest that it won’t include top tier character like Superman or Batman (pictured above). The real stars of the series will be the power-less workers, who envy the superheroes that populate their world.

In addition to creating A To Z, Queen executive produced the 2007 Fox series Drive, wrote Cars 2 for Pixar and wrote Slanted & Enchanted for Warner Bros.

This has to tie into the DC TV Universe. NBC messed up by not trying to include Constantine into the DCTVU so to do so would be just has bad. This could provide the connection between CBS Supergirl and CW Arrow-verse without even trying. Having an insurance company who has to provide a policy for Daily Planet, Catco, Wayne Foundation, Palmer Tech Star Labs, etc while there agents of also fanboys to the DC Super-Heroes. To see a Superperson in the backdrop while the agents have to deal with the aftermath could be a fun watch.

Yes this does sound like this scene from The Incredibles:

NBC messed up a lot of shows that I liked and I'm afraid that they will do the same with this one.

If they do not tie this into the DCTVU I am wondering just who from the DC Comics would show up. Ambush Bug?

This show could be fun, but it also could be pretty ho hum. Something like this would probably work better in the Marvel Universe with many characters located in NYC. DC's characters are so spread out geographically that it's hard to conceive of one insurance office handling cases that with various characters. Of course with super heroes and villains, their fights could be like national disasters where insurance agents from across a region travel to the epicenter of a disaster to help with claims. There might be a team of agents specializing in meta-human disasters that travels around the country.

^ Your point about tying in to the other show is a good one. Cameo's would really help a show like this, just as they would if SHIELD had a cameo by Cap or Iron Man or Banner every now and then.

Maybe put Booster Gold on the show to be a super hero liaison for the insurance company.

This could work, NBC tends to get comedies right. I am not familiar with Ben Queen's previous show/movie work so, I will just have to wait until the pilot airs.

I believe we are going to see more "supers" on this season of SHIELD as they build toward the tie-in with Civil War, maybe even a cameo from an Avenger or two.

S.H.I.E.L.D. was better in season two when they added Mockingbird a.k.a. Bobbie Morse. Yes she is a non-powered member but she is an Avengers in the comics. Plus with Quake now looking to build the Secret Avengers this season is going to be better.

Powerless does indeed need comic book guest stars to keep the geeks happy or what is the purpose of the show.

I remember a page from a Marvel magazine showing Hulk in handcuffs being led away grinning as the guy in front of the wrecked house bellows at the insurance agent "Waddaya mean I'm not covered?"

Well NBC has ordered a Pilot to be filmed.

I personally would rather see Keith Griffen's Sugar & Spike get the green light.

At least that way we are starting out with DC Characters. We are just going to have to wait and see how the pilot turns out and watch it when it shows up on a bittorrent site.

Yep. I was thinking the same thing.

Wasn't Damage Control in development by Marvel? Maybe DC/WB is trying to beat them to it... for once?

Damage Control is still in development at Marvel last I heard. Damage Control has made a few appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so it wouldn't be hard to add it in.

Damage Control was supposed to be the first Marvel TV project but Disney wanted something directly correlated to the movies, so Damage Control development was re-purposed for AoS. The Whedon clan brought in the movie elements while the Loeb side had the Damage premise. They've talked about spinning Damage off of AoS, but that was when Agents had a much more snarky tone, It hasn't been mentioned in a while as AoS does well for ABC but never became the mega-hit the budget calls for.

Damage Control is now a half-hour sitcom. Huh.

Supposedly on deck for "this season"...which know means anytime in 2016.

For those who wanted to count out the NBC Powerless you will be missing out on the first Super-Hero to show up in the pilot.

What? I cannot believe I am the only one he gets a little happy to see a comic book character make there first appearance in Live Action. I guess in a way with so many show out there it can get a little underwhelmed.
