The movie dropped nearly 70% and is on just over 4000 screens. There must be a lot of empty theatres.

20th Century Fox's Fantastic Four continues to do poorly, dropping 69% in its second weekend with just $8 million and $42 million total domestic.

The other day I was at my local multi plex and spoke to one of the employees there about the Fantastic Four movie. As an employee he gets to see the movies for free. He made it very clear the the movie was not worth seeing even at that price!

I talked to a coworker who greatly regretted wasting money on it. As others have said, he relayed that the first half was watchable, but the bulk of the film was walk-out worthy.

I just figure since it is a dimension hopping story, that it is an alternate version and not our "reality". That makes it an okay movie.

Here's the typically amusing (but also typically overlong) Half in the Bag review. Warning: They say a few naughty words.

After Thursday it's gone from my local multiplex. It managed to hang around two weeks and I wonder how many other places will be dropping it.

most theaters probably had to guarantee a certain number of weeks, which I am sure they regret since the seats are mostly empty

It's a four-week guarantee with x amount of shows per week. Anything earlier and the theater usually has to do a buyout. I would be shocked if Fox had to scratch the buyout and even offer a make-good as theaters are actually losing money following the contract.

Theatrical works on a sliding scale, roughly 75/25 Distributor/Exhibitor. It drops ever week, so in week 3 theaters would be near 50/50....except no one is coming.

I actually walked past a theater where it was showing and all I heard was a couple of crickets, and even they didn't sound too happy!
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

^Well, considering the Amazing Bag-Man is really Spidey, then this has already happened...kinda.

But I still think that's funny. If I were Reed or Johnny, I'd put a bag over my head right now too.

It's usually a 2 week guarantee for most movies depending on how many prints you get. Most theaters that don't have 20 screens have lost it already. I skipped Fantastic 4 despite being able to see it for free.
