Yeah, the age thing doesn't bother me at all. I actually think it's refreshing after Garfield pretending to be a high school student.

What do you guys want? He was too old before, now he's too young? As Tbolt said, check those Lee/Ditko Spider-Man comics. He MIGHT be 16-17. I always assumed he was 15 when he became Spidey. Either way, he's a kid. And for me, Spidey pretty much begins and ends with Lee/Ditko/Romita, so this is a good thing.

I seem to remember reading he was supposed to be 15 when he got his powers.

Yeah, but do we really need to revisit "young Peter" over and over again, with repeated origin stories, reboots, etc?
How about just moving on and showing us the further adventures of Spiderman. We all grow up sometime, why not our hero?
I'd like to root for an adult Parker, see him evolve, and not just marvel at his newfound powers and hoping his skin will clear up.

Weren't you listening...they're NOT retelling the origin story.

The nationalities of the actors playing the roles in super hero movies does not bother me in the slightest. If they can pull off a convincing American accent and embody the character convincingly, that's all I need.

However, at first glance, I don't see this kid as Parker... yet. Maybe he'll be great. We'll just have to wait and see.

My Spidey ends with Ditko leaving, I never got into Romita's stuff, all the sudden Petey was a pretty boy look. A young kid goofing on Cap or Iron Man will bring a little something new to the movies. It'll give a lot of contrast instead of starting to look like another cookie cutter hero.

Yes, I'm well aware of that...common knowledge...we are all geeks here, lol.

But that's never been my favorite Spidey...I prefer the college aged one...and up...

If you've ever seen the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon, then you now know what to expect.

And THAT thought alone makes me cringe completely because, in that toon, Spidey may as well just be in love with Stark, Rogers and everyone else who's an "Avenger." The Spidey I know and love was, and always will be, pretty much a loner, teaming up with certain characters when stories required it (or if a book needed to sell a few more copies), but never running around in utter awe of the other characters around him. He was a science whiz and had the proportionate strength of a spider, so didn't need SHIELD or Tony Stark or anyone else to help him out. He carried his own loads and dealt with his own issues. I'm very glad they're not doing another "origin story" (although I'm sure elements of it will sneak in there, especially if he's asked how he gained his abilities), but I would much rather see an older, more assured Spider-MAN who doesn't have to worry about trying to impress Stark and Company and whose presence is much more established in the MCU, it's just that that's a corner of it we haven't looked into as of yet.
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

This is my third post on the subject---a variation on the same thing--- but, geez---the LAST thing the MCU headliners need is another "grown-up". I get that others want to see more of a "man" but it would have been a bad decision all-around----this will indeed be the "in awe" young Spider-Man and I think it's perfect timing----I've seen enough MCU middle-aged lead actor men playing "superhero" without some younger whippersnapper mixing things up. Not only do I hope Spidey's definitively "young" in this Civil War film... but I hope he's on Scarlet's butt during half his screentime.

SPIDEY: "Hey babe---you're great and all. But a bit low on weaponry. A pretty girl like you could use a little 'web-action' if ya know what I mean."

WIDOW: "Listen bud, ever hear what a black widow does after mating?"

                                SPIDEY: "What's that, darlin'?"

                                WIDOW: "Oh... never mind."
"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris Mannix
