Well, color me surprised. I thought Convergence was a toothless stunt. When whispers of it were first heard, it was thought to maybe get back to the classic versions of the characters, and/or end the New 52. Then we found out it was supposedly just a way for DC to put out books while they moved their offices to California.

This is very similar to the revelation of Hypertime WAY back in "The Kingdom" 5th week event back in the late 90s. Hypertime meant everything happened...just like this. Then, no one did too much with it, and DiDio came in and put an end to all references to it.

Nearly 15 years later, we're right back there again, although this time, they really did undo Crisis.

The question is...what will they do with it? Will we get titles set on the Pre-Crisis Earth-1 and Earth-2? Will we get a post-Crisis Superman book? Is that Superman dead? Kinda sounds like it.

This is a step in the right direction for old fans like me, but it's all in what they do with it now.

The New 52 isn't being labelled as such anymore but that continuity is still going forward. But all past continuity of the various reboots is also now available as DC doesn't focus so much on one unifying universe. If there's interest in a Lois Lane cutting Superman's hair story then the possibility is there to have it published. Alongside Robo-Bat and Aquawoman.

I got a headache just reading that article this morning. BTW... it only says that anything is possible. Doesn't state that your old titles are coming back. I think they are doing this because they know they painted themselves into a corner. I'll give the JSA title a look and see if I want it. Unless there are some veteran writers and artists I will probably pass. You know, Jerry Ordway and Buckler don't have regular gigs these days. They can actually STICK to a deadline....I don't know, call me crazy, maybe hire them to do a book. Just sayin'

^Ordway was still under contract to DC a while back. I wonder if he still is? A JSA book written and drawn by him would most definitely be on my near-non-existant pull list.

From reading the story and from the double spread by Van Sciver, it would seem the original Earth 2 (golden-age) has morphed into the new52 Earth2 prior to its destruction in a story called World's End that took place right before convergence.

Earth 1/post Crisis Earth has morphed into the New52 primary Earth continuity.

So yes, all those Earths existed but what remAins is the New52 versions in the primary books. Now, if DC decides it wants to do stories in those faded away realities it can. They are out there, but the Didio/Lee/Harras-verse is the current continuity possibly with some shifts from what has been documented the last 3 to 4 years.

So, in my mind nothing really changed. Now, who knows what will happen in the soft/hard/mushy reboot next month that continues the New52 numbering on 25 titles and introduces 24 new titles.

There is a New Justice League book next month by Bryan Hitch that is doing its own thing. Who knows how long he will be able to keep it on schedule. maybe if it does well, it will lead to other non continuity takes on the characters.

I'd love to see a JSA book by Ordway set in the 40s, the character's prime. I tried for a while, but I have no interest in The Earth 2 book.

Until an actual JSA or All a Star Squadron book is in my hands , then I'll believe that anyone cares .

Nice to see the multiverse back but it doesn't really mean anything until we actually see a Crime Syndicate or Atomic Knights series. All Convergence did was set the stage for the new Earth 2.
