Wonderful argument. But I wouldn't bank on this new film getting anything other than that overcast look, unfortunately. In fact, early scenes certainly suggest it could be even more so.

      Brilliant. Brilliant. Brilliant!!!!!

Someone send this to Snyder. Stat!

Although, even proper coloring couldn't completely save it. But, at least it would be easier on the eyes.

Wow---I'm shocked at how nicely that piece diagrammed the simple aspect of color (and, unintentionally---or covertly--- the aspect of music as well) in these movies. I'm more of a "story" guy than a "visual" guy, but after watching that tight little MOS color-examining/re-coloring piece, I'm that much more bummed about what MOS was, vs. what it could have BEEN.

Wow, what a stunning difference. There is such a bias to reduce brilliant color, across the board, like "bright color=bad taste". I had the same problem when I worked in cartoons...frigging CARTOONS.

Along the same lines, this post is a really good read that explains why almost all movies look the same anymore. http://theabyssgazes.blogspot.com/20...ease-stop.html

Wow!! Snyder, Nolan and all the suits really need to sit down and watch this and consider their choices when it comes to palettes and tones. I never realized exactly HOW washed out MOS was until I watched that. Would love it if WB would consider releasing a MOS: Vibrant Edition for those of us who want to watch Superman in a blue sky instead of a gray one.
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

I don't think it's me having a big ego if I'm making comments regarding myself in the context of agreeance with OTHERS well-rendered pieces----but, regardless of the impression of what I'm about to say, the two links in this thread have taken the phrase "I hate it when I'm right" and elevated it to an even higher level--- in that, I couldn't agree more with the points that these pieces are communicating, but, additionally, while they are "visually-based" ideas I haven't even consciously explored to any notable degree, they still fully contain the same essence as my overall criticisms on action movies of today as far as mimicking story-tone and all properties overall, thinking they're playing it safe while "sanding down" the unique "points" of any given franchise.

It not only short-changes the audience, but it short-changes the longevity of any money-making given franchise that are "all dulled up and have not much places to go"

That^^^ and there's the simple way of just saying that from pieces such as the two linked within this thread, it becomes clearer and clearer that there's just "a LOT more Xeroxing of strategies in modern movie-making" than I even want to think about---lest I just give up all hope

I'm willing to let go print comicbook media as a valuable story-telling agent as far as these big franchises go---but I'm uncomfortable with poisoning the "film" well for these franchises just yet

Do you know about the Save The Cat problem?

If you’ve gone to the movies recently, you may have felt a strangely familiar feeling: You’ve seen this movie before. Not this exact movie, but some of...

                  That's not a "problem"---it's an excuse.

That's one of the worst articles ever written about writing and Hollywood EVER.

And, believing in what that article says is like believing that going to school to learn about your craft is wrong.

That article is CONTRIBUTING to the problem---not helping---AT all.

Beautiful job! Man, if the re-did it in that color scheme on Bluray...I'd buy it again!

Wow---if what they're saying is true then that lab company should be ashamed. Even I wouldn't sink so low as to benefit off of MOS pot-shots wrapped in lies

The sad thing about it is, on the second shot down of Superman in the interview room, the "untouched" capture from the Bluray STILL makes Supes look more like a corpse than an alien supercharged by the rays of the yellow sun.

Snyder just doesn't get that there should be contrast between the two characters. Or whomever are his overlords.
