I disagree....Veidt's character was tragic and sympathetic, but not evil in the slightest. In that pic above he just looks incredibly sad, but I wouldn't be afraid of him. He looks like he needs a hug.

^Hugo's "L'homme qui rit" and it's silent adaptation starring Veidt, The Man Who Laughs, featured a tragic character whose purposeful disfigurement was ironic. Definitely visual Joker inspiration, though.

I'd watch Conrad Veidt in anything--a great character actor & humanitarian.

I was going to say he could use a bit of extension on the chin to make the face a bit longer. To me, Joker just has that long, thin look.

I just lost track of that short-film... but I remember being 99.9 percent happy with it. A rarity---right?

That said, I was pretty impressed with the "Bat In The Sun" Joker I just discovered via your link---but, even moreso impressed with this Batman they had going there---granted he seemed quite Conroy-derivative, but I guess his consistency added along with my Conroy-bias made his performance pop for me.
Yeah, same guy as Joker, same people. I think Conroy did the voiceover for Scars.

^She was on Batman, so that's OK lol.

Remember the drunk, seeing Romero on the bar's TV, in an early Joker episode: (flinching in fear) "That's my mother-in-law!!"

I noticed it was Bat In The Sun...but you're saying that's the same guy playing the Joker?

If so, I thought he was totally different (and slightly better) in Patient J.

Dang, I feel stupid for not recognizing him...when I get a second, I'm going to watch CITY OF SCARS (so THAT'S the name!) again & I'll pay better attention. The acting style seemed different than Patient J, and, as mentioned, I'm a big fan of his performance in it Patient J, while something was throwing me off in SCARS.
