Wow, disagree with that opinion. Johansson is a hit around here.

Sam and Scarlett are posing. I try and give her a pass because she's buried in an ensemble, but she was gawd awful in IM2. She looked great and...all I got.

I mean, she only got the role because Hilary Swank and Emily Blunt bailed in pre-production as they didn't like the revisions. Johansson was on the downside starting with The Island in '05. She had to take Widow which at the time, wasn't the plum Marvel gig people are now willing to bail on other productions to get in on. She was decent in Avengers, but ugh, horrendous in Winter Soldier. Her actions scenes are totally unconvincing. The quips don't fit her delivery. She won't even try to hold the Russian accent, which would help a lot.

Jackson hasn't made a damn effort. All he does is slip off his glasses, have someone shave his head, slap on an eyepatch,, glue on a fake goatee and do an impersonation of Bill Duke. Considering it could have been Kurt Russell but Marvel's reknown tightwads...ugh. No let Mark Millar dictate casting, because he's a wellspring of depth and profundity.

Sorry for the rant. Marvel can cast their franchise actors well, so I have nary an idea about this kid for Parker, just as I did with Hemsworth and Evans certainly proved me wrong.

Since he's a Batman fan, judging by his t-shirt, he might make a better Robin than a Spiderman?

Sam Jackson and Scar Jo stink from IM2 and on, and Ruffalo is nowhere near Norton. The roles don't require much, but Sam and Scarlett are on total auto-pilot.
Nope. Sorry. Opinion, not fact. I love all three of those actors in those roles.

I think this news only suggests they're staying with Peter Parker for now. Who gets the role remains to be seen. In my opinion, it's way too early to get invested in one actor. Let's see how this unfolds.

I know it's my opinion, just as yours is, but auto-pilot isn't a hard argument to make. She bailed on the Russian accent and delivers every line in the same monotone. Colby Smulders shows more range in Winter Soldier with a fraction of the screentime. And Jackson hasn't shown a singular different emotion or reaction from IM2 to Winter Soldier. Maybe I'll make a Supercut and capture the dynamic range.

I could accept that's what the script calls for, but that gets into how underwritten every character but Stark and Rogers has been. Even Hemsworth and Hiddleston, who were great in the first Thor have been paperthin since. Honestly, it's why I have some hope for Ultron. It's the first movie where the first act won't be spent setting the table. So it can either be great and delve into some issues, or it can be IM2, where Fiege wedges in so many foreshadows it subverts.

Me too, although I have been kind of thinking Sam Jackson plays Sam Jackson in every movie these days, I do like his Fury, especially in Winter Soldier.

^Yeah, he's playing to his type. It worked for John Wayne, Clint Eastwood and countless other stars, so why not.

Right. Exactly. He's playing the Sam Jackson "annoyed but calm" stereotype, which Bill Duke made a career out of in the 80's and 90's. Sam has been doing it since Kiss of Death in '95.

IM3 is the weak-link in the Marvel chain, for me. I don't hate it, but it's my least favorite of all the Marvel Stuidos films.

Back to Spidey for a moment...that's Miles Morales front and center. This will be your Avengers post-Evans, Hemsworth, etc...

Going to have to disagree with you on Hiddleston. He stole both Avengers and Thor:The Dark World.

Nope! Sorry...can't agree with you on this. Marvel has comes so far since the old days to F#%K it up now. Things have been going GREAT for Marvel Entertainment...you don't change horses in the middle of the stream.
