Pine definitely has the machismo and the swagger to pull off Green Lantern and he's got enough of, I hate to say it, a sensitive side to pull off Hal Jordan when he's not ring-slinging. Of course, we all know it'll never happen, but it's a nice thought anyway....
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.
There's a lot of similarities between jet-jockey Jordan and space-jockey Kirk. I know Pine is an actor, and can do more, but we know he can pull off that type.
Pretty good choice if maybe a tad predictable. With the first abortion of a film I'd like to see a slightly different take and make it a GL Corp movie with Pine as the lead along with the other earth lanterns and FINALLY the best WB casting with Sean William Scott as Guy Gardner. This way they can gauge which character really connects with an audience to go forward with a pure solo film.
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.
If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.
Pine was one of the original early choices. When WB focused on Bradley Cooper, Paramount jumped on Pine for Trek. Cooper turned GL down, but was then offered The Flash, which was Ryan Reynolds and Goyer. He agreed, which transferred Reynolds to GL. Cooper then bailed on Flash and a lot of the Flash-Reynolds elements were incorporated into GL.
Reynolds opted out of a play-or-pay GL sequel when Fox gave the go-ahead to Deadpool. So if the Pine info is accurate, then they're going back to their original choice instead of moving on with Jon Stewart, who they wanted The Rock for, but the Shazam producers had first option.
I'm a huge Pine fan. He's the closest thing to a Young Kurt Russell, but he was never rugged enough to be Kirk. I didn't know who Hemsworth was, but when I saw him as George Kirk, all I could think for the rest of the movie was that George Kirk guy should have been Jim Kirk.
Kirk and Jordan seem to be very similar to me. In the military but always challenging their superiors. Ladies men and won't accept defeat. Works for me.
Perfect choice. Pine's got the mego connection being that he's CHiP's Sarge son and also played Kirk. Although mego never made GL, he was featured on the Hall of Justice playset.
