The animated human form in this show doesn't look any more offbase than the Timm one
---anyways---hey guys...look...its his blue and gray costume...geesh---lets celebrate---

And if we're lucky---we'll see a heckload of familliar villains and heroes throughout
    the run----looks very promising.

Didn't know Dick Sprang was hyperstylized. Give me anything that has its own style anyday over the blandness of Super Friends or the 90's Marvel toons.

I think it's a dynamite look...the Sprang-ness makes it very kid friendly (and I'm sure down the road, very toy-friendly)

I don't want to see another 90s X-Men toon. That's a case where they followed comic style straight up, and it just didn't work in animation.

It would be nice to see a super hero toon with more realistic designs again. Like the 1988 Ruby Spears Superman and the last season of Hanna Barbara's Super Powers.

Everything looks the same now and I'm getting pretty sick of it.
A big reason for the style look being so similiar on the DC side is som many shaws are from the same animation stable that learned under Bruce Timm. I also loved the look of the 88 superman show, it was perfectly alligned with the look in comics of the time (I think Marv wolfman actually designed the characters for that show) and the superfeinds were Alex Toth designs which also evoked the style of the Bronze age artists in a more simplistic way. The reality is today there is no cohesive style in comics (which isn't a bad thing) so animators Choose their own way influenced by the comic artists they like best

I for one love the look but then I am also a HUGE Sprang fan. Tucker has said for years a Sprang Batman is the show he has wanted to do. I suspect this will be a really fun show if the effor he put into LOSH is an indicator.

Since DC has decided not to use Timm and Dini anymore none of the DC animated shows have grabbed my interest and I don't hear much buzz about them. This looks very 1960's retro-Batman but I doubt the stories will be that great. I've seen epiosdes of The Batman and I was not impressed.

I don't remember Sprang's work ever being that simplified or drawing anyone with squared off fingers.

And why does Blue Beetle look like Ambush Bug?
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Just to clarify, while Marv Wolfman was story editor on the 88 Ruby Spears Superman series, Gil Kane did the designs. He streamlined the design for animation and it worked.

Clearly Tucker isn't doing Sprang straight up here. It's a combo of Sprang, new-look Batman by Infantino, Timm and Jack Kirby. But it's still very old school, and a nice direction to go in. Timm and Co. did the "modern" Batman perfectly on BTAS/TNBA. No sense going over that ground again.

                              An update on the show.

It won't debut until March 2009! That stinks.

Also no Kevin Conroy as Batman. From Toon Zone:

"Voice of Batman Announced for "Batman: The Brave and the Bold"

                              04-10-2008, 1:31 PM
In a follow-up to the original announcement, Toon Zone sister-site World's Finest has learned that actor Diedrich Bader (The Drew Carey Show, The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy and The Zeta Project) will be lending his voice to the title role of Batman in the upcoming series Batman: The Brave and the Bold.

The series is set to premiere in March 2009 on Cartoon Network."

This is the guy who played Jethro in the Beverly Hillbillies movie and was Peter's mulleted neighbor (and later fellow construction worker) Lawrence in Office Space.

Bader has a deep voice that suits this animation style, it's deifinitely going to be light hearted.
