I have come to the conclusion that there is no press release that makes this film sound any good-from any perspective:

FF film Dr. Doom origin revealed???

I'be been re-reading Ultimate FF and it clarifies a lot of what they're using is from the first issues...and making it cheaper. Think about the approach Gareth Edwards used for Godzilla, the look of Chronicle, and expect that.
This would have been a HUGE success...if the movie was New Mutants which was in development at the same time. Trank should have taken over The X-Men withNew Mutants, let him go hog wild, and Fox has a big hit.
But, Fox wants to keep the FF rights. Then they got in bed with Millar, who co-wrote the Ultimate FF origin, and the rails started coming off.
This will work to the degree they want, which is retain the rights. They've technically announced sequel dates, so the opening weekend is moot.Comment

this movie will tank, the rights will revert back to marvel and in 5 years we will finally get a really good FF movieComment

Imagine the first movie giving us the origin (done properly and perhaps even in the right era) along with the Mole Man and his giant critter along with his horde of underground dwelling minions, the ending setting up the coming showdown with Doctor Doom.
Second film intros the Skrulls (again, properly) and perhaps either the Puppet Master or, even more ideally, the Sub Mariner (especially since ol' fish breath always had the hots for Susan Storm---good conflict there).
Third film is basically FF vs. Doom as he kidnaps the Baxter Building and the FF eventually take the fight to him in Latveria. At the end of film three, Reed discovers something bad going on in outer space.
Next trilogy gives the fans what they really want.
First up, Reed and Co. discover and enter the Negative Zone and puts Annihilus on the big screen with him actually knowing something of what Reed discovered at the end of movie three and being scared of it (ya gotta imagine if something could scare Annihilus, it would be pretty nasty).
Second film is the FF discovering The Inhumans (if they haven't already had their own flick by then). End of that movie is basically the arrival of The Silver Surfer.
Third movie is split in two (kind of what they're planning for AVENGERS: THE INFINITY WAR) and basically gives us FF issues 48-50 in a HUGE epic that pretty much blows anything else we've seen away.
Now THAT, I would pay money for!!sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.Comment

I think he's totally effing with people with that statement. A grounded movie makes zero sense, it's the Fantastic Four, not the Fair to Middland Four. They are either pulling a huge switcheroo or this will be the most abysmal CB ever made or conceived.I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

I think this sounds close to accurate, probably an earlier draft, some changes, but more or less it.
Over the past few days, a very detailed synopsis has started doing the rounds which seemingly reveals the plot of The Fantastic Four in its entirety. While it's more than likely just a piece of convincing fan-fiction, it still makes for a pretty interesting read. Check it out!
Actually close to the the first Ultimate FF story arc. The Trank changes actually make perfect sense when you consider "lo-fi" is actually jargon for "cheap".
And that's the Fox model on all reboots; go cheap on VFX and if it pans out, up the sequel. Apes, X-Men, Predator, etc...only Prometheus diverged from that when Ridley got on boarders director, But before him, it was his son-in-law and it was a proto reboot of the first film, very much in line with the Alien:Isolation video game.
So, yeah, if this holds up as right, then it's as I've felt from the very early days; Mark Millar's New Mutants.Comment

Normally I try to keep an open mind, but this time I think I'll pass and spend my money on The Six Billion Dollar Man movie.Comment

bombs away!! Its bad when the bigwigs can see it but the director can't. Trank must have tunnel vision. You must try to generate happiness within yourself. If you aren't happy in one place, chances are you won't be happy anyplace. -Ernie BanksComment

I know they've been doing reshoots longer than they're admitting to as of now. The real speculation is how removed Trank is from the current decisions. He's not fired, as that doesn't help sell the film or work with his agency, but he's most likely ceded creative control to Matthew Vaughn.
Vaughn and Millar were the ones who advocated for this and came on as producers. Millar still hasn't clarified exactly what he does for Fox and he's gone from cheerleading FF to acting like he stepped away moons ago because he had no concerns. He's gone from comparing himself to Joss Whedon to having nary a clue as to what's the current state.
The craziest stories in NOLA are around Trank being a physical wreck and trashing his rental.Comment

At what point do you just cut your losses and shut it down? How much more negativity really needs to come out before theatrical release? At first I was really thinking the studio was just effing with everyone about the Doom blogger and Reed working at a convenience store, but it appears to be fairly accurate. How does FOx pull this out of the tailspin or does it? Is there film insurance in case something totally tanks beyond belief?I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.
