The Hows and Whys of Batman 66 making it out on Blu and DVD

Fans have been waiting decades for the 1960s Batman TV series to arrive on home video. After years of struggle, it's finally being released. Here's why it took so long.

VERY interesting (if slightly confusing) article on the guys behind the scenes who worked out the legal red tape so we get our Batman sets next week.

Great piece, I read it last night. Funny to see Johnny Stacks so closely involved, I followed his case closely when it hit the media. He had no real legal leg to stand on but I always thought he had done some due diligence. Especially the way Warner tried to bomb him back to the stone age like that.

Seems more likely now though, with Batman released?

You know I always figured it would take some of these license holders to die off to help tie up the lose strings, but it's fascinating to know what really got the ball rolling was just the intense interest of one fan. Amazing to see how that evolved into what it became. And to think even with that legal verbiage discovered, it took just as much diligence from that revelation to evolve into a workable position for Fox, who STILL hesitated on the deal. My head hurts just trying to rationalize what Fox must have been thinking. And to think this made it while the principle parties of West and Ward were still alive to appreciate it's commercial release. One has to wonder if they ever thought it would happen in their lifetime.
