Liked the first episode, the second one was kind of 'meh' for me, but the third episode was better, especially seeing Papa Midnite make an appearance. I'm remaining cautiously optimistic about this show, so far.
Papa Midnite's appearance certainly added appeal to this episode, which, IMO, has been the best out of the three. With no teaser preview for next week's episode it should be interesting to see what they have in store for us.
I hope they roll out Spectre/Jim Corrigan and Dr. Fate quickly. Evidently the ratings dropped on the second episode. Hopefully they popped back up last night and NBC takes in consideration the second episode played on Halloween.
The lure for me isn't really Constantine but the possibility of Fate, Spectre, Deadman, Etrigan, Zatanna and so on. Goyer has already said no Swamp Thing in the first season because of the budget, but said he could be possible in the future seasons if the show gets them.
Last night's episode bordered on "meh" for me, the "high" point was when he was tripping balls with his shaman friend. Next week's episode looks promising though with another Papa Midnite appearance.
I really liked last night's episode, it was a loose but still well done adaptation of Hellblazer #1. But, among other differences, the comic version of the story had Papa Midnite helping Constantine trap the demon in Gary Lester, too bad they changed that part.

Ahhh...that's why the story seemed familiar but not quite right to me. It's been 20 years since an ex-friend moved to the other side of the country with my Hellblazer collection that he "borrowed" and I haven't gotten around to rebuilding it yet.
Kind of interested in seeing Jerry Siegel's other creation Jim Corrigan on Constantine on Friday. Hope the show lasts long enough to develop him into the Spectre.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to that too. I wonder if Siegel and Shuster's Dr. Occult will eventually show up too?
Probably not going to happen as I suppose it is wishful thinking on my part to hope to see a cameo of Morpheus/Dream (Gaiman's Sandman) in the show when Constantine helps him find his bag of sand in Preludes and Nocturnes. The crossover appearance of Constantine in that story is what lead me to the Hellblazer series to begin with.
