I just posted two stories about that and some treatment talk coming out about this film. It's not looking nearly as good as once thought. Definitely too many chefs in the kitchen on this.
I have a friend who lives in England that worked on the Harry Potter films, and he apparently knows somebody at WB. He relayed to me WB's surprise at how well GOTG did. They were hoping for a dud based on lack of recognition...he said they are scratching their heads in disbelief and that some folks are beginning to getComment

Marvel is just a massive machine at this point...DC/WB is lucky if they get the training wheels off ...Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!Comment

I think it's very telling that WB is prepping up more movies set in the Harry Potter Universe. DC was supposed to be their new yearly tentpole franchises to replace the guaranteed income that Potter films brought in on an annual basis.Comment

^ WB announced 10 other dates for DC movies along with the move of the SvB film. So it doesn't appear they are backing away from DC material as tent poles. The WB event films are suspected to be 2 of the 3 Harry Potter spinoffs that were announced last fall. Now, who knows if any of these films will ever get made.

It'll be interesting to see how, when and why the Marvel movie universe collapses. Not that I want it to, but with all things there's an ebb and flow and Marvel is definitely flowing right now. It just got me to thinking about what is going to cause it to all crumble, and if the super-hero movie will once again become something that the general public looks down their noses on.
Then again, maybe that'll never happen.Comment

^An article on Variety.com said that between Marvel, WB, Sony and Fox, there are 8 super hero films planned for 2017. The overall glut might be what does the genre, not just Marvel, in.
Amazing Spider-Man 2 underperformed, and I think one of the reasons is that the basic plot wasn't much different than the other 4 Spidey films. I liked the movie, but I love super heroes and haven't got bored with them for over 40 years, but for the movies to continue to do well, the stories will have to really stand out.Comment

Age of Ultron will be the peak. The first sequel is always the apex. Marvel has been able to avoid this by using solo films as sequels under a larger umbrella, so A3 is a culmination where Avengers and Guardians cross. It's possible, but the novelty of team-ups is really going to be standard fare by A3.
Half the DC dates will never come to be. It's all pre-emptive nonsense so they don't have to move dates anymore. No one has been looking forward to a Wonder Woman movie more than me, for my kids, but that chick doesn't have a prayer of carrying a movie on her own. Then I'm supposed to believe a Momoa Aquaman, a new GL, another Flash, Metal Men...do they realize if Affleck was starring in a Bat stand alone, first, it would do worse than all Bale films?
The rock as Shazam is the only real gold. It's Big meets Superman.Comment
