    What Are You Reading?

It's been awhile...I know a lot of us have become disgruntled and don't really follow
the funny books like we used to. Here's my list of what I'm currently reading:

    DC

Tiny Titans: Return to the Treehouse
    Justice League
    Batman '66

    IDW

Six Million Dollar Man Season Six
    Weird Love
Star Trek The City on the Edge of Forever
    Powerpuff Girls
    Super Secret Crisis War

    Marvel

    Savage Hulk
    Black Widow
    Original Sin
    Miracleman

Along with various issues from Archie Comics

Kind of a sad list, isn't it...

    Mine is even sadder:

    I'm reading:

Batman 66 (including the Green Hornet crossover)

    That's it.

My kids are reading Scooby-Doo Team-Up, Teen Titans Go! and Tiny Titans: Return to the Treehouse.

I pick up trades and random issues here and there, but that's it.

          Hawkeye - Marvel
Infinity Man and the Forever People - DC
          Inhuman - Marvel
Iron Fist: The Living Weapon - Marvel
          Justice League - DC
          Justice League United - DC
          The Legendary Star-Lord - Marvel
          Letter 44 - Oni Press
          Moon Knight - Marvel
          The Multiversity - DC
The Multiversity: The Society Of Super-Heroes: Conquerors Of The Counter-World #1 - DC
          Nova - Marvel
          The Punisher - Marvel
          Rocket Raccoon - Marvel
          Silver Surfer - Marvel
          Southern *******s - Image
          Spider-Man 2099 - Marvel
          Starlight - Image
          Superman - DC
Thor: God of Thunder - Marvel
          Uncanny X-Men - Marvel

Quite a few of the books on the list are "on the bubble" as far as me dropping them. I also read Walking Dead and Invincible but in trade paperback format. Came to those series late so I just get the collected volumes.

So weird that I am a Johnny DC kid. Always have been. Only exception was one or two X-Men books and occasionally Spider-man. But the New 52 has really driven me to the other side. All my Vertigo books have been canceled or dropped in favour of mainly Image books. I am willing to give new DC series a three issue tryout such as the new Deathstroke, Grayson, Infinity Man. But few survive the fourth month.

What I have been really enjoying are the Marvel "space" books. Nova, Guardians, Rocket Racoon, and the current story line in Captain Marvel. It just speaks to me and my love of sci-fi.

Starlight is everything I like about Buck Rogers, Flash Gordon and Adam Strange rolled into one great story so far. Captain Midnight is a nostalgic fav of mine. I got a box of old Captain Midnight books from an uncle when I was a kid. But the title isn't as strong as I would like. Better than most DC books but not the top of my pile each month.

          - Marty

I'm currently reading Six Million Dollar Man-Sixth Season. I've thoroughly enjoyed this series too. It's really keeping with the spirit of the show.

I had a pull list until the imcompetent morons (actually, just the manager) at my local comic book store lost my records in their system, and then dropped me because I "had not picked up my comics in 90 days," despite my having the prior three months' worth of comics (and receipts!) from their store.

I actually had to argue with the store manager over this; my suspicion was that they had created a duplicate pull list account for me, and my nonexistant Evil Twin never picked up the duplicate set, leading to them purging all of myselves. I even reminded him that their system had crashed 60 days earlier, which required me to fill out a new form with my credit card info, but it was clear that he did not believe me. He hesitantly offered to reestablish a new pull list (although could not guarantee I would be able to get all the current month's issues, which was why I was in the store), but I was particularly embittered over the fact that he could not remember the lenghtly conversations we had every single month each time I came into the store.

That was the end of comicbook pull lists for me. It has been over two years, and I have only returned to that particular store three times -- once to shop for a specific gift, and twice to purchase Comic Con badges. I have taken my comicbook needs elsewhere, but no pull lists.

Currently reading George R. R. Martin's "A Feast For Crows," book four in his "A Song of Fire and Ice" series.

Hellboy Library editions, Goon Trades, Marvel Masterworks trades as they come out, vintage Doc Savage paperbacks. That's about it for me, new stuff has no appeal to me at all.

I forgot Back Issue!, somehow. Still subscribing to, and enjoying that.

I had a similar situation at the previous comic shop I had a pull list at. The owner NEVER remembered anything about me or my requests, no matter how many times I came in. I tend to not take things like that personally. But then they started shoving junk I didn't ask for in my folder, and he kind of got huffy when I told him I didn't want it. Meanwhile, things I actually did ask for never made it into the file. I know other folks raved on about this store, but my experience was totally negative.

The new store I go to is owned by a very friendly, and well-versed husband and wife team, who are a joy to talk to.

I had switched to digital which was great because I could just buy the comic when I wanted to read it, but when Amazon acquired Comixology and made purchasing from my iPad really inconvenient, I just dropped out. I'll probably pick back up with the trades at some point or if Comixology comes up with an app as convenient as the old iTunes one.

I've been reading the second volume of Jim Aparo's Batman (his later Brave and Bold issues) and superman Man to Tomorrow Archives. Fun stuff that I hadn't read since I sold off my collection in the 1990s. Still love silver-age Superman.

                            Absolutely nothing!!!
I dropped everything about a year ago I guess.
Too bad as I know I would enjoy smdm and 66 batman.
I'd like to say I'll pick up the trades later on but I doubt it.

Batman 66 is a lot of fun. It captures the spirit of the show but embraces other aspects of Batman lore. Totally kid-friendly too, which is a plus at our house.
