What's your weekend box office prediction for Captain America 2?

Based on what it's already taken in overseas, the mega buzz and really good early reviews, I'm guessing it opens between 85-90 million.

I'm horrible at predicting these things. Given how Thor 2 outdid the original, the overseas take of Cap 2 thus far, and Cap, Black Widow and Fury making this seem like Avengers 1.5, I think it's going to do better than the first one. I think Cap garnered a lot of good will with folks who missed it in theaters.

            I predict between $75-$85 million.

I really want to see this one...so far...I have enjoyed Captain America more than the other stand alone Avengers movies like Thor, Hulk, and yes, even Iron Man.

            Go Cap!!!

The first Cap is my favorite Marvel film. Over the Avengers, over the Spider-Man films, FF...ANY of them.

Honestly, it's one of my favorite films...PERIOD.

I agree. The First Avenger is like the modern Superman The Movie.

Just came back from it, it is FREAKING AWESOME!! Loved it! Lots of little things thrown in to catch. No spoilers, just make sure you stay all the way to the end there are 2 scenes.

Yep - gotta to agree withe supes - "Just came back from it, it is FREAKING AWESOME!! Loved it! Lots of little things thrown in to catch. No spoilers, just make sure you stay all the way to the end there are 2 scenes. "

I went with a group dressed as Cap related characters, Since Cap was already spoken for, I came as Iron Fist. Eleanor came as Wasp and Lillian was Viper. No non comic fans knew who we were.

It should be above 90 million with zero competition. Big dectractors are MLB opening weekend, Final Four, Wrestlemania and the first Spring Break wave just ended. 3D/Imax can make up the difference though. considering IM3 made 15 million on those screens alone. Only other factor is weather and the Southeast storms.

The larger action sequences are better than I expected. The rest is about what I thought. This has a very IM3 feel in that the diehards will love it and the general population says its good/alright. A lot of things we give points for, average watchers just don't care about. Evans and Mackie are solid.

So what's the verdict on this for kids? My 6-year old daughter wants to see it, but I'm not sure. She saw the Avengers after I checked it out, and we covered her eyes in a few spots. That was two years ago, with no damage done. How's this one, comparatively?
