Oh man, that is all kinds of sweet. And Ross actually using real colors again is a treat as well.

Holy Crossover! I'm gonna have to get me some of this original art. Fortunately for me, the gentleman hangs out in the front room of the studio.

I guess Col. Gumm has gotten a bit gummy? Wish I could read the USA Today article, its locks into an Intel ad and I can't get past it.

          from the article.

Because they didn't have rights to the likeness of Carmel from the show, Garman figured out a way for Gumm to still be that same character — now General Gumm — but "disfigure his face in a way that's very comic book but something they probably couldn't have gotten away with on the show itself," Smith says.

That Alex Ross cover is to die for. Look at the expression on Batman's face. He is all about the serious business of crime fighting.

They couldn't get likeness rights to Carmel for Gumm? Somehow that surprises me, considering his decease.

Isn't his estate notoriously difficult to deal with?

^I've heard that. The Playmates Harry Mudd figure didn't really look like Carmel. As I recall it looked more like the Filmation model sheet, which was based on (and voiced by) Carmel. Kind of splitting hairs, but it was off compared to most of the other figures.

I've heard that too. Carmel had no children, so I'm assuming it's a sibling who oversees the estate. There can't be much by the way of income stemming from his career these days.

Playmates made a figure of Harry Mudd.

^Yes. But as I said on page 1, it looked more like the animated Harry.

I think I heard Carmel was married (despite rumors to the contrary concerning his orientation), and his wife was hard to deal with. But that may be bunk.

Seems odd, you would figure that Harry Mudd is really the only thing they have going so they'd take what they can get now & again. How often does the phone ring with an offer?

You'd be surprised how much of a demand there is for "Mothers In Law" merchandise....
