[/B]This is truly an exciting year for DC fans as far as DVD releases go. First, the live action Batman TV series is finally coming to DVD sometime this year. Now the announcement of the long awaited releases of The New Adventures of Superman Seasons 2 &3 and the Adventures of Batman, both by Filmation make the icing on the DC cake.
THE NEW ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN SEASONS 2 & 3: I was really afraid that Warner Home Video were going to literally forget about this half of this Superman series. I can't help but wonder why it took seven years to come out with this. I'm glad it's finally happening. Now I'll be able to throw away those homemade recordings of the edited versions of the Superman/Batman Adventures broadcasts from TV. I especially can't wait to see the 2 parters in their original formats.
THE ADVENTURES OF BATMAN: I think fans wanted this show the most. It is important in that it's the first animated cartoon of Batman ever produced. I was also afraid that Warner Home Video would forget about this series as well. Here, we have Alfred and the Riddler in this series. And Batman and Robin actually get to punch villains in their faces.
These 2 DVD sets complete all the animated series of Superman and Batman produced so far.
With the Super Friends now complete on DVD and with the DC Filmation library nearly complete, all that's left are the minors.
Namely the Adventures of Superboy series and the short lived Shazam cartoon by Filmation.
Here's hoping the Saturday Morning Era of DC Comics Classic Animation will soon be complete on DVD in the near future.
