    Smallville Cast Changes

According to this week's TV Guide, the contracts for Kristin Kruek (Lana) and Michael Rosenbaum (Lex) are up after this season. It doesn't look like they'll be signing on for additional season but may be brought back for story arcs in the future.

This show has got to be on it's last legs...no?

I still enjoy Smallville, but I honestly wish they'd just end it this season. I think it's getting increasingly hard to swallow Clark as NOT being active as Superman, or at least using his powers like Superman. If he's off in seclusion at the Fortress studying ,fine. But Green Arrow's scathing commentary about him sitting in his barn while the world goes to hell is a tad too close to home. As far as being responsible with his gifts, Superman actually looks worse than Impulse. That's bad.

Kryptonsite is indicating Rosenbaum may change his mind if he gets the right deal.
But please, give Lana her walking papers. Her character, and the producer's commitment to Kreuk has single-handedly maimed that show on many ocassions. She's not a bad actress, but the character of Lana is a cipher changing from storyline to storyline to try and shoehorn in Kreuk's mandatory screen time. It really drags the show down. Without Rosenbaum's Lex though, I think the show will suffer immensely. Only getting James Marsters to be a semi-regular as Brainiac could help soften that blow.

Oh and give Green Arrow a spin-off for pete's sake. I'd much rather see that than Smallville morph into "Supergirl: The Series" when Welling's contract ends.

Hey Chris I feel the Same....I mean how long can they continue this series...If it wasn't for the movie the show naturally should have become a new Superman series......and agreed give The Green Arrow his own show.

Kreuk ruins the show now IMO, I can't stand her breathy acting style and her character is purposeless, she slows down the series. Losing Lex would really cripple the series however, I wonder how many plots they really have left with this mopey guy not putting a cape on.

Isn't one of the plot points of Smallville the triangle between Clark, Lana and Lex? If Lana and Lex are gone, then wouldn't it have jumped the shark - again?

I think we're at a point where there needs to be an event that puts Clark in the suit and ends the show. At least that's what I've read: the end of the show is Clark becoming Superman. I think we were there, and have been there for a while now. Jonathan is gone, Martha is gone. Lionel is the only "adult" on the show. I think it's time to wrap things up and move on.

It's been well done the last few years, within the frame of the show, but they seem to skirt the eges of change and then pull back quickly to the status quo more or less. Clark really has no reason to be moping around the farm now. He's not even in college as far as I know. Plus the cast is getting a bit long-in-the-tooth to still pull off teen melodrama, even though they are all supposed to be over twenty now.

I was surprised when this was picked up for another season. This thing should have ended with six. When they "killed" Lana off,I couldn't have been happier. Then they brought her back. That's something they shouldn't have done, they could have avoided this whole mess.

I totally agree with Chris. Ax Lana and start the Lois-Clark thing already. I do have to say the episodes with Brainiac, Bizarro, Lara and Zor-El were really good. Also the one with Black Canary was good. The ones with the DC connections or the Superman myths are much better than the same old "woe is me" Clark and "I'll change" Lana.

It's nice to see Pete's coming back in the episode next week.

I'd still love to see Bruce Wayne (even if not as Batman) make an appearance and also see Terance Stamp as Jor-El in the fortress before the series ends. I do have to give them all the credit for what they have done in show-casing characters from the DC universe and in casting actors/actresses with Superman connections.
