    Secret Invasion or Final Crisis?

Is anyone looking forward to one of these summer blockbuster series over the other?

For DC's "Final Crisis" I'm interested in the scope of the project and Grant Morrison always delivers out-there concepts. I'm sure this will be no exception but I hope it isn't too out-of-whack that it ends up alienating even more DC readers. Hopefully it will leave the DC Universe with a status quo that most everyone can be happy with but I'm skeptical.

As for Marvel's "Secret Invasion", if anything I'd like to see the Marvel heroes all get on the same page again, so to speak, and go after the Skrulls. All of this mistrust and deception since "Civil War" has got to go. I want to cheer for the heroes against villains...not heroes against heroes.

While I think the Idea of Secret Invasion sounds neat,.. I am worried about the build up to the Last book... With Civil War,.. Spidey got extremely screwed in the book, & then Cap got shot dead in the epolouge.. 3 Months for that ? Meh.

Then with the Final Crisis..., I just pray my Hero's don't die.

I picked up the free Secret Invasion preview the other day. It looks pretty good. If I were to choose, I would take Secret Invasion over Final Crisis. Mainly because I was really disappointed in Identity Crisis, Infinite Crisis and 52; and, wouldn't touch Countdown with a ten-foot pole, I don't care who's writing it. I've liked DC better than Marvel, but wouldn't touch Civil War or the Spider-Man event with the same ten-foot pole. I just don't think you can stack that many events on top of one another without a breather. I read Crisis on Infinite Earths, and then Legends - and Legends was just okay.

What I'm reading is The Brave and the Bold. I'm re-reading the first six-issue arc about the Book of Destiny. If you like the Challengers of the Unknown, they now have the Book of Destiny and are trying to find a way to beat Megistus. While they're doing this Megistus is running about through the history of the DC Universe, where you get to see some pretty diverse team-ups. It has the feel of an event, but on a smaller scale. Don't ask me how, but it works for me...

But if it were just a choice between the two - hands down it would be Secret Invasion. Fresh approach to the Skrulls.

I second everything you said. The only way I read Final crisis is when the TPB comes out and it's under 10 bucks.

Thankfully there will be no "Final Crisis" cross-overs into other titles so that's some bucks saved...I'm not sure about "Secret Invasion".

And I agree about "Brave and the Bold"...it's an event but it's not intruding on other titles even though it's running the gamut of the DC Universe. My favorite book every month!

Since NU Marvel is a trainwreck I avoid that crap like the plague. Final Crisis with Grant Morrison, nuff said.

I'm kind of looking forward to FC, but honestly I wish DC would put a moritorium on this things. Even with Morrison at the wheel I'm kind of underwhelmed. Plus his Batman plans scare me right now.

I'm with you on that one. I'm just hoping that some of the rumors flying around aren't true.

As for the title question, while I'm a DC fan at heart, Secret Invasion is really intriguing me. I just can't seem to work up any enthusiasm for final crisis.

^^ That sounds like a Great theory. \
I would also think Professor-X was a Skrull,.. thats why his mutant pwrs don't work. Being the 2nd Most powerful mutant, next to Jean,.. It doesn't make sence that his got stipped in the Scarlet Witches rant..

Definitely Final Crisis. I've got a lot of faith in Morrison - his last major company crossover (DC One Million) was one of the best they've put out, in my opinion. Plus, I'm hoping that Final Crisis will end the whole turbulent period that DC's putting their characters through right now and we'll start to see things begin to calm down.

I've said this before and I'll say it again. I think they best thing for DC and Marvel right now is for each to do a World War type mini or maxi series that ends with everyone and everything getting wiped out.
Afterwards, they can begin anew....and do it right, following their own original continuity as a guideline. At the very least go back to making comics enjoyable again instead of long drawn out and utterly pointless crap.
I really wish the books would go back to being more about the characters themselves instead of whos writing and drawing them, and how their version of the character is better or worse than the last guys. You know what I mean? It seems every half dozen issues or so anymore a new team takes over a book and tottally trashes what came before ....after a while it gets monotonous and makes it very difficult to cultivate new readers.

Even though the majority of modern comics I read are DC, I gotta say, going into these two series now...Marvel's "Secret Invasion" is shaping up to be the better, more interesting cross-over.
