Fox can taste that super-hero box office so bad they're going to strangle this thing dead before they give up on it.
So when Ben beats on Johnny for pranking him will Johnny call him racist?
If they cast Saoirse Ronan as Sue, (obviouly too young), will they make it more like Twilight?
I don't know why they don't go to Bryan Singer for advice on this. They'll probably do an FF/X-men crossover anyway to copycat Marvel's Avengers characters.Comment

^^ They've already hinted at the FF/X crossover. I had to google every one of those casting names as I've never heard of a one. None of them inspire me to be excited about it at all. And its more than likely going to be an origin story yet again. You must try to generate happiness within yourself. ^totally agree.
A period FF would be cool.
Michale B. Jordan is a talented young actor who was great on the Wire and Friday Night Lights and Fruitvale Station and was fine in Chronicle, but Johnny Stotm's not black.
Miles Teller was good as the mixed up teen lead in the Spectactular Now, but I think he is younger than Jordan. He at least looks younger. That's all wrong for Mr. Fantastic.
Why pay the licensening fee for the FF if they really don't want to make a FF movie?Comment

If this is correct....this is horrible.
I know I've seen this before.
Wasn't this the premise of Mutant X? Alphas on SyFy? And a recent show from the UK?Comment

It doesn't matter. Studios want some diversity in these casts, and that's just the reality of it.Comment

^If they cast Sue Storm as black, I won't have as much of an issue with it, but all the actresses connected to the role are white. Johnny And Sue aren't half brother and sister. They weren't foster brother and sister. Further distancing the relationship between the characters breaks down the core of what the FF is - family. With Ben and Reed you already have the close as siblings relationship. It makes no sense to replicate that with Johnny and Sue. Casting Reed or Ben as another race would not strike at the core of the concept and be a more logical choice. To me it shows a basic misunderstanding of the property. So to me, it does matter how the primary characters are cast.
Again, why license the FF, if you want to make another story or work with different characters.
The other characters you mentioned are ancillary characters, not the primary character in the film. Also, Electro is a black character in the Ultimate Universe, so there is a precedence.Last edited by madmarva; Jan 24, '14, 12:35 AM.Comment

I am normally on the side of "great actor trumps looking just like the comic books" and frankly, I think the comic world could use a little more diversity. When Jordan was announced, I was intrigued... because he is a great actor, and he seems good at playing the right kind of swagger you need for Johnny Storm.
But the rest of the casting rumors are making me dubious. And that origin story is horrid.
If I was doing the Fantastic Four movie, I wouldn't even have an origin story. Just start with them in the Baxter Building, as if everyone already knows them. I don't need cosmic rays. I don't need some YA romance about Reed and Sue falling in love. The audience, if they don't already know the story, can fill in the blanks as they go.
Oh, and since we are talking Michael B. Jordan... I'd keep the "Friday Night Lights" thing going and cast Kyle Chandler as Mr. Fantastic. Makes way more sense than those English kids they are auditioning.Comment

After Fruitvale, Jordan would have to walk away from the role 'cause Fox ain't getting rid of him.
The impression I got is that Reed and Ben don't know each other beforehand, so the odds are neither will Jonny and Sue. That's why I was referencing other properties who've gone this route.
Wait. Good Lord. This entire time, I was thinking of Channel 4's The Misfits, which was a ripoff of Trank's Chronicle.
I had the Misfits part right, but the wrong one. I just realized what Kinberg and company, almost identically, rebooted the FF into!

It's the same premise, characters, relationships and cast diversity! The only difference is they had Ant-Man instead of The Thing.Comment
