It's basically the show Millar and Gough wanted to do before before WB said no, and they retooled the idea around Superman and created Smallville.

In a recent episode of the podcast Fatman on a Batman, Kevin Smith and Paul Dini brainstormed on what they would do with a show starring a young Bruce Wayne. It could be fun.

It worked for Smallville because we had Superboy and all you had to accept was Luthor would happen to be in some farm town. Once you get past that, it's easy.

But with Wayne, the entire premise has to be built around his dedication to the different practices that lead him to becoming Batman. That's a great show but he would rarely be in Gotham, which has always been part of the character story.

Yet, they're already talking about Joker and a young Jim Gordon. How long before Selina Kyle, Cobblepot and Dent get dropped in?

To me, this has Lost written all over it - destiny and fate wrapping people together who should have no previous relationship.

Usually I'm pretty open to new versions, different back stories, etc., but I am cynical about this. The idea of Bruce Wayne simply training, studying, etc. does not really appeal to me. Will he, like Clark in Smallville, actually start fighting crime or solving mysteries as a teen? that might be interesting to see how he ultimately needs to don a mask. If that's the case, i would hold off on the Joker until the end of the series. The Joker could be the one who is so twisted and evil that Bruce finally decides he can only battle him as a vigilante.

Not interested! The only thing that could possibly make me watch this is the same reason i bothered with smallville......cute women in the cast. If not Bye-Bye.

Yeah, this concept has been played out. It's time to start doing Comic-Book TV shows that don't subvert the characters but embrace them. The SFX is there and people are craving Super-Heroes on TV that actually look like Super-Heroes. Time to move on.
