I think the synthetic skin covering his robotic appearance looks pretty damn cool.sigpic

Sounds like the bit about Brainiac taking over his son would have been heartbreaking.
I know most folks weren't on board with the Deadbeat Father angle of Superman Returns. It is fascinating when you take into account the post-Superman Returns continuity in the comic books, where Superman had a "son" in the form of Chris Kent, Zod's son whom he was raising. Since X-Men, it's felt like comics have been chasing the tail of the movies in hopes of capturing extra audience. Sometimes it works (like X-Men or Avengers), sometimes it doesn't.Comment

A direct ripoff of Ogon Bat...
It reminds me when Disney released The Lion King/Simba as an original story/character, when in reality, it was a total uncredited ripoff of Kimba, the White Lion.
Singer did exactly the very same thing here.sigpicComment

Oh dear God no, Has a Mars attack vibe.......glad Singer was dumped. Do Braniac right or stay away from it......Comment

I'm convinced that if Singer had been given the opportunity, the sequel to Superman Returns would have been really good. I think the results would have been better in the long run over Man of Steel and what we may have in store with Superman/Batman.Comment

Not necessarily...I've never heard of or seen Ogon Bat before, and let's be realistic, there are DOZENS of skull-type characters out there, from the Terminator, to Skeletor, Scare-Glow, Black Mask, Atomic Skull, Red Skull, Ghost Rider and even the Mars Attacks Martians.
They can't help but look similar. Skulls aren't mutually exclusive to any one character design.Comment

Not only the skull, but the black cape with that type of collar...Singer could've been indirectly and subconsciously influenced by Ogon Bat, a character conceived way back in the 1930s....older than any of those characters you listed.
Yes, everyone is influenced by others, but that Singer Braniac seems influenced by Ogon Bat...IMO.
Ogon Bat was never released to American audiences, but has been shown around the world...I used to watch it all the time during my days in Mexico (1970-1976). I think it was too strange for American audiences.Last edited by Hector; Dec 26, '13, 12:53 AM.sigpicComment
