It makes sense Krypton would be slightly bigger than Earth. In science these types of planets are called Super-Earths. In Sci-Fi lore people from a larger planet are subject to stronger gravity. On a smaller planet like Earth where gravity is weaker they would be stronger and more agile. They probably wouldn't be as powerful as Superman but that's where artistic license comes in.
