My childhood idol was the late great Bill Bixby. He was the one celebrity I wanted to meet more than anyone in the world. Sadly, I never got to. I was a senior in college when he died from a two and half year battle with Prostate Cancer. He was the star of three hit shows. He was a reporter named Tim Ohara opposite Ray Walson's Uncle Martin the Martian in My Favorite Martian. He was magazine publisher Tom Corbett, a widowed single father to Eddie Corbett in the Courtship of Eddie's Father (which I'm finally getting around to watching), he did brief shows like the Magician and Goodnight Beantown, and best of all, he was the star of my favorite TV show of all time. As mild mannered fugitive scientist
Dr. David Banner on the Incredible Hulk opposite Lou Ferrigno. If it weren't for Bixby, I might not have gotten interested in the Hulk or any Marvel character since my geek fandom is primarily DC. Bix was and will always be my favorite Banner. I also enjoyed Edward Norton and Mark Ruffalo, but no one will ever best Bill Bixby in my eyes. I still like to watch the Increidble Hulk on Friday nights since that was the night the show originally aired and it brings back memories. This is my tribute to one of the greatest actors who I feel should have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Hard to believe it's been 20 years since he passed away. R.I.P.
