Oh boy...here we go. Terrence Howard thinks he made Iron Man.

Seems Terrence is upset about being left out of the success. He accuses Downey Jr. of taking money that was his and claims he helped make him Iron Man.

Yeah, keep dreaming Terrence. Don Cheadle was like a million times better than you in the role.

I can't believe tampon is a filtered word.

This behavior and these comments are evidence enough why marvel sent him packing into made for DVD films.

Terrance Howard sucked so bad as Jim Rhodes I remember my Uncle and I were on our way back from seeing Ironman and the first thing we thought was, "God dang, that guy does not play a good Rhodie. He just does not have the character down. If they put that turd in a suit of armor in the next movie it's going to suck..."

Then we heard he was removed for the next movie and apparently we were not the only ones who thought the same thing. Terrance Howard needs to go back to messing with Norbit.

I hear Terrance is also the talent behind the best seller "Sour Grapes". Actually if the studio had renegotiated Downey's contract, Terrence would not have been in a position to know those details. From everything I heard it was Terrance that wanted more money and walked. Good riddance.

It's not as simple as "RDJ took my money". Howard, like Norton, are not known as the easiest guys to work with, which is why they've done more indie projects than studio backed ones. At the time, IM and Inc Hulk were technically "independent" productions, and the deals had more flexibility with lower upfronts/higher backends for the sequels.

In Howard's case, when they started negotiating the sequels and possible War Machine spinoff, Marvel let leak it wasn't an ideal situation, which means Favreau/RDJ or Feige didn't get along with him on set and they wanted a change. So Marvel knocked him out by lowballing their offer.

With Norton, he put a lot of himself into Inc Hulk and they sandbagged him during final edit.

Both guys did get screwed, though, because you have to keep in mind this was early, no track record Marvel. People were running away from their offers at this point, unlike today.

Howard had some real steam at the time and Marvel made promises to get him on board. Norton's was even moreso as they had been after him since the first X-Men movie for Cyclops, then Daredevil, then Ang's Hulk. So they get the guy to finally agree with the understanding that if this was going to be a franchise, he would have real input. Then when the time came, Marvel balked. Norton made it known he wasn't happy, which, commbined with his salary, ticked Feige off and lead to the Avengers recasting.

Personally, I liked both guys better in the roles. Howard looks like Rhodey and as great as Cheadle can be, it's an auto-pilot gig for him. Cheadle was an ideal Panther to me. And the Ruffalo praise has also been overstated.Banner was turned into a bit role doing a riff from Buffy, and I could see how that wouldn't fly with Norton so he would want more screen time, but his understated delivery opposite RDJ would have been amazing.

I'll be honest, I felt Howard's squeaky voice was wrong for Rhodey. I wasn't sorry to see him go, and I normally don't like when they recast.

I liked Norton as Banner, but I like Ruffalo just as well, if not better.

That's what I heard too. I think he just smells superhero blockbuster money and wants a bigger piece of that pie.

Yeah, his voice didn't work for me either. I guess I like Rhodey to be more baritone.

You are not alone...I prefer Howard over Cheadele myself, both are solid actors, but Howard is the more "handsome" of the two...our superheroes have to be good looking, lol.

Taking into consideration hedrap's post, the idea he usually GETS that kind of money PROPORTIONALLY---is about "money" yes, but it's a "power" thing too. Like Norton, Howard likes to have the kind of freedom in his career positions that RJD does... and he THOUGHT he had that as he began IRON MAN... and then that was taken away from him.

I don't blame the guy at all for sticking to his guns so that he could get that "superhero blockbuster money" ... if he DIDN'T do that, he'd ruin all he fought for to that point as far as career choices. For that, I say "Good for him." He coulda crumbled, and didn't.

I don't understand why he waited five years to start complaining. The fact is, Terrence Howard simply wasn't that important to the first film to make any type of demands. The fact he was so quickly and easily replaced without a single person seeming to care and absolutely zero impact on the sequels box office is proof of that.

^^^ I think it's like anything. It's notoriety. When the third picture of a series hits a billion dollars worldwide, that's a nice bullet point on your resume. If the series had fizzled and critics had pronounced the franchise dead by now, I'm sure he would have been out there saying he knew it was "weak material" and why he "walked away".
