^ He DID do a good job on Year 2. I had forgotten that! Wasnt there a Invasion mini series he worked on? That was a different story though....

I love the cape in Batman year one. Todd loves capes so he can show depth, its one of the things he talked about. He also talked about his shortcuts, and why he became a writer as well as artist. He was tired of Writers giving him a story with 10,000 characters on one panel......he said it was much easier and faster to draw a large figure panel and fill in the background.

I also tired of Spawns story....I paid attention for the first 75 issues an just lost interest. Was stephen Platt also one of the artists that ran to Image, his style was pretty distinctive.

I wish I would have went. Sounds like it was a great turn out. I'm only 20 minutes away

It was a great weekend for Todd to be in Colorado.

        Great pictures!

Yes, he drew part of the Invasion! mini that spearheaded that DC event. Much of his work in that looked VERY rushed. I think he did that right as he was going over to the Hulk at Marvel.

Already mentioned it in this thread...if you don't have McFarlane's Infinity run go out and buy them. Well worth it. I think it was from issue 14 through to about issue 37 I think. I could be wrong. It also helped that Todd had an amazing artist inking him in Tony Dezuniga. Each page is a piece of art.
"When not too many people can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
                The beauty that surrounds them
                Isn't it a pity".

I spoke with him in the lobby of a hotel in San Diego back in 93 (maybe?) during Comic-Con. Sometime after Image launched as some of the other creators were there. He used to live on Vancouver Island and that is where I grew up so that was my conversation starter. He gave me some portfolio advice but damned if I can remember it now. Seemed like a really nice guy.

I can't say I'm much of a fan nowadays, but I still have fond memories of his Spidey output. And Batman Year Two wasn't too shabby either.

I liked his Spiderman because it had style whether people thought it was good or bad...and Yes he had anatomical problems but it worked in that style. I always believed Todd should never ink himself, he should have always had someone do that for him to fix mistakes, he seemed to ink very heavy handed. I did like that he drew Spiderman in some incredible poses some becoming iconic and his use of blacks on the costume gave it a Ditkoish look that I liked. On the other hand I hated his Mary Jane Watson sorry, I'm such a Romita fan that i thought he drew her looking like a bug....lol

I dug his Spawn for a bit but grew tired of it and just dropped it....haven't looked at one in years. Always liked his toy line he did a great job with that.....

Yes, Stephen Platt who broke onto the scene doing Moon Knight for Marvel made a big splash when it was ending. Rob Liefeld signed him on to do Prophet and he became a Hot artist for a bit. His artwork matured and improved and he did his own book for Image called Soul Saga....he has since done freelance work doing other things most notable he designed and created the art and "Lobster" costume for George Michael's Freek video a few years ago.....and has worked on different movies.
