Hmmmm....
This is one of them mixed things for me. There's so little character established for Stretch ("he's a blonde dude who stretches" is about it) so you could write pretty much whatever you wanted into him for sake of a film. (And someone will STILL complain they got it wrong....) So it COULD be good.... but the idea of attaching a film to such a limited character to begin with seems indicitive of creative bankruptcy and pillaging a name just 'cos it's better than creating something totally new.
Still; it'd be kinda interesting watching the inevitable rage on both sides play out across the internets. 'Course I'll probably STILL get my chance to see it. The idea of a film is out there....

^^ See, that would be funny if they did it in a movie. You must try to generate happiness within yourself. If you aren't happy in one place, chances are you won't be happy anyplace. -Ernie BanksComment

I like Stretch, but it was kind of a flimsy concept to base a film on. We need something much cooler, like Mattel's Pulsar. Just think--a film about a guy that has functioning internal organs. It will captivate the minds of a generation.Comment

The whole motivation for that project was backwards from the start. While most fantasy movies are made to sell merchandise on one level or another, this one had too many problems trying to craft a story that would make any sense. Plus, it wasn't THAT popular a toy, even though we as collectors covet it highly.Comment

He would have been better off placed in a Toy Story movie along with GI joe.You must try to generate happiness within yourself. If you aren't happy in one place, chances are you won't be happy anyplace. -Ernie BanksComment

A couple of years back, this movie got some press attention for being fast tracked.
I posted the article on the PlaidStallions facebook page.
A poster shot back "THIS ISN'T ACCURATE, STOP SPREADING FALSE HOPE!!!!"
My immediate thought was "Someone is hoping for this?". Seriously, loved the toy, won't see the movie unless I'm on a plane where the wifi is down and they're out of beer.Places to find PlaidStallions online: https://linktr.ee/Plaidstallions

There's a dark side to EVERYTHING, including nostalgia. EVERY character.... no matter how thin.... is SOMEBODY'S favourite, and they'll get just as rabbid over them as the internets does over Batman.
Not a comforting thought, but there it is.
When you consider how much of the past is getting mined this one is obvious. It's not about the character, or any kind of substance.... it's about a name people will hear and go "Oh yeah! I remember that!"
