This is great news! I was missing Shooter' Solar so happy these guys are back. The Magnus redesign looks awesome. -
Hmmmm....
Stuff like this always makes me kinda nervous. The Gold Key stuff was very much a product of it's time, and the new stuff kinda looks like generic modern'd up sort-of versions of the old stuff. Like the 90's versions. Not that it'll neccessarily be BAD; but I would MUCH prefer somebody did something new. REALLY new.

I haven't enjoyed any of the previous attempts at revival, neither the Valiant nor Dark Horse. As said, I love the original series, but you just can't always go home again.
That being said, I'm looking forward to Waid's Dr. Spector, as he's always shown a respect for the original source material for whatever he's working on. My only problem with Dynamite is they feel a need to crossover every series with another, and it's only a matter of time until Dr. Spector fights Vampirella & Barnabus Collins.Comment

>I'm looking forward to Waid's Dr. Spector,
That's one I'm frightened of. I love the original, but it was very much inspired by the psychedellia of the 70's in look and themes. No matter how close to the original a new one is, I'm afraid it'll come across as just another "dude hunts monsters" comic.

....although part of me thinks that'd be nifty.... Dr Spektor tied into the other Gold Key stuff in toto back in the day. Dagar was a direct ancestor, he teamed up with Doctor Solar once, and I'm pretty sure Traag was one of his ancestors too; the first of the line and a harbinger for humanity against the dark gods. (If Samson ends up one of his descendants we'd have a perfect run I guess.)

I forgot about Spektor meeting Solar, and he also met The Owl (which Dynamite has too). Dagar & Tragg were cool books too that I liked, but you know, now that I think about it, a lot of my interest in those three comics comes from the art of the late Jesse Santos. I guess we'll have to see if Spektor is interesting to me without his art.Comment
