HitFix.com reports that Baron Von Strucker, the menacing leader of HYDRA, the evil organization previously featured in "Captain America: The First Avenger." will be featured in the upcoming sequel. The report further states that Von Strucker will be Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch's commander in the "Avengers" sequel; Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen occupy those roles, respectively. Actors Dougray Scott and Marton Csokas are reportedly in contention for the Von Strucker role.sigpic

couple of things struck me as I was rewatching the teaser...
how cool is it that they are using a variation of that awesome Avengers logo from the late seventies/early eighties run that many of us remember from the days when we first read Avengers as a kid?
With Ultron "emerging" from Iron Man's mask... are they overtly suggesting the JARVIS is the AI that becomes Ultron? or is that merely a fake-out? Whedon and Fiege have said Ant Man isn't in the film. It makes sense to me that the crux of this should be Tony Stark's hubris, which puts him front and centre to the emotional and physical conflict rather than Michael Douglas as a Hank Pym that audiences haven't really connected with at all yet.
With Strucker having some part of this, and Captain America 3 announced for 2016, do folks think this is a direct lead in?
Trivia: Dougray Scott was originally cast as Wolverine before the last minute replacement by Hugh Jackman.Comment

Mission Impossible II went over schedule...and overlapped his commitment to the X-Men flick.
Scott was also the early frontrunner for the role of James Bond (after Pierce Brosnan)...but as we all know...it eventually went to Daniel Craig.
Poor Dougray Scott...now he lost out on Baron Von Strucker,...the man just can't catch a brake.Last edited by Hector; Mar 24, '14, 1:55 AM.sigpicComment
