Gotham City TV show with young Gordon

This could be good if done properly.

I think Gotham Central would have been a better idea. A "before Batman and his crazies" show is simply another crooked cop show. I like the idea of regular cops having to deal with all the weird stuff in Batman's world.

^Agreed. As much as I like Jim Gordon, his backstory would be pretty much any "good man in a bad city" cop show. Good for a one-off movie, maybe but hard to make a distinctive series, I would think.

Yeah, Gotham Central would be better, but maybe they will play around with it and intro some recognizable characters. Harvey Bullock, Leslie Thompkins, Thomas and Martha Wayne, the Grayson's at Haley's Circus. Maybe even Hugo Strange and of course Arkham and Blackgate could be used.

It would fun for them to adapt the story where Thomas Wayne wears the Bat costume. The Reaper from Batman Year Two could be used. I'm not sure how old the Penguin is supposed to be. Is he older than Batman?

Characters like Montoya and Crispus Allen could also be used even though it wouldn't fit the comics timeline.

I'm trying to figure out how they would use Bat villains in a time before Batman. There wouldn't be too many of them. Maybe make up some new ones or something. I'll give the show a chance. It's on Fox so they'll probably can it after a season. Especially if it's good. That's what Fox does best.

Maybe Gordon isn't a rookie, but a mid career cop taking a job in Gotham 2 to 5 years before Bruce takes up the cape and cowl, sorta like Batman Year One That would allow for most of the villains to at least be adults and operating in Gotham. plus DC doesn't follow continuity closely, why would the TV show.
