Disney Moves Up Ant-Man Release Date

Anyone see that the Ant-Man movie is now coming out July 15th 2015 instead of in November 2015. I guess they figured since that the 15th is the same day the new (most likely terrible) Tim Burton movie is coming out, there won't be much competition and it'll guarantee it's success.

"Many Shubs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Sloar that day I can tell you."

I just read that now, along with Hemsworth confirming he's returning for AoU.

If they tie him in at the end of Avengers AOU, this movie will do better than expected.

^^^ Edgar Wright said Ant-Man was more of a stand-alone film:

"Ultron was never in my script. Because even just to sort of set up what Ant-Man does is enough for one movie", and described Ant-Man as a stand-alone film. He said it will fit into to the larger continuity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, explaining that "It is pretty standalone in the way we’re linking it to the others. I like to make it standalone because I think the premise of it needs time. I want to put the crazy premise of it into a real world, which is why I think Iron Man really works because it’s a relatively simple universe; it’s relatable. I definitely want to go into finding a streamlined format where you use the origin format to introduce the main character and further adventures can bring other people into it."

They wouldn't move Ant-Man so close if they hadn't plan the connection from A2.

The real reason for the move?

              1. The bailed on Pirates 5 for 2015

              2. They want to squeeze Batman/Superman.

Ant-Man comes out two weeks after Bats/Supes, which will take away or split many 3D/Imax screens, since that's the really big fx sell for Ant-Man.

It's a way to guarantee A2 wins the summer, or at minimum beats Batman/Superman. Pretty clever.

Edgar Wright may have said that but at the end of the day Disney/Marvel are about making the most $$$$$$$$$$$$$ that they can and ultimately call all the shots.. Ant-Man is an original Avenger. I can't see any business not selling that point.

^ Yeah. Depending on which Ant-Man. I could easily see Pym working at Stark and the suit is made to help stop Ultron.
