    39 years ago today....Shazam

I read on Facebook that today is the 39th anniversary of the debut of Shazam TV show on CBS.

Loved the show as a kid and surprisingly I can still watch the episodes today, which I can't say about all of my childhood cartoon favorites.

I always wanted to see more of the Elders.

So here's a salute to the World's Mightiest Mortal.

This show definitely has held up well. It's still a good fun half hour. So glad they released this on DVD.

Kid's TV could definitely use a show with strong moral lessons like this one. Heck, shows where all the adults aren't totally clueless goofballs would be a welcome change.

It was a real pleasure meeting and talking to Jackson Bostwick earlier this year in Lexington, KY. He was a very genuine and friendly person.

I got the DVD set for Christmas and it was very strange the first time I played it because all of that incidental music on the show was instantly familiar. It really does hold up pretty well for being almost four decades years old.

I was in fourth grade... Gosh I feel old. But I felt like that kid again when Chris and I met Mr. Bostwick in Lexington. A true gentleman that delivered all the dignity and good manners one would hope to experience from a childhood hero.

Bostwick really looked the part. Still love that show!

I think this my earliest memory of television. I might have watched Super Friends or a Kroft show (Electrawoman and Dynagirl?) before this, but this one truly sticks out. My first Mego was Shazam, so I think it was an easy connection. Others may scoff, but I think this show is a valuable piece of television history.
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

The incidental music was used on many other 70's Filmation shows such as Star Trek TAS, Isis, Tarzan, Batman, etc.
