While I agree Hugh and Dane that Wolverine IS a cool character I think he's over-used to the point that it makes him "uncool" if that makes sense. Originally, Wolverine was the "loner" of the X-Men with the berserker edge...and god forbid you got on his bad side. Nowadays with him popping up all over the place (I think being an Avenger really bugs me...it used to be the Avengers were the heroes in shining armor so to speak) it's almost like he's "Uncle Wolvie" and I think he's lost some of that edge he originally had going for him as a character on the fringe. The same can be said for the Punisher I guess...overexposed kinda so you don't look forward to their appearances as much.

Sorta reminds me of The Fonz... He was badass and mysterious originally when Happy Days began but by the end of the series run he was a shop teacher and was adopting a boy!

While I have no Complaints about Wolvie poping up in any X-men book,.. I do rather dislike the Idea of him In the Avengers. However, I don't like Spider-man, Dr. Strange a memeber in the Avengers either.

A quote that unintentionally speaks volumes not only about the state of Marvel under an idiot like Quesada, but of comics in general. It really hurt to cancel my subscription to Amazing Spider-Man after almost 25 years, but if the only way I can vote in this situation is with my wallet then the purveyors of shock, schlock, and gore will go to press without my dollars in their coffer.

I feel much older than 35 when I think thoughts like "Things used to be better then they are now", but when it comes to comics it's not because we are looking at the treasuries of yesteryear through the rose colored glasses of childhood. It's because were looking at the drivel, drek, and near porn produced today through blood smeared glasses of today.

Ah, comics today! - High prices, low concepts, and more blood spatter than a serial killer on a bender. Barely a handful of titles are even written (or suitable) for kids anymore, which is where we all learned to love the medium in the first place. When the last generation of comic book readers die off I wonder who they think they will publish this crap for? I wonder if they have even considered that at all? I wonder if they even care?

Wait - I just saw today's sales rack, and the answer to all of the above is a resounding "Huh?!".
An old Irish Blessing - "May those who love us, love us; and if they do not love us, may God turn their hearts; and if He does not turn their hearts, may He turn their ankles, that we may know them by their limping"

              >"if You do this, there's no turning back...."

              .... until the next reboot....

              >Barely a handful of titles are even written (or suitable) for kids anymore, which is where we all learned to love the medium in the first place.

Hmmmm.... maybe this is why I have such a divulgent view of comics: I loved 'em as a kid, but I was never into superheroes. I used to read stuff like Heavy metal, and the Warren mags, and a ton of European books....

              >It's because were looking at the drivel, drek, and near porn produced today through blood smeared glasses of today

....maybe... My problem witht he "adult" material that Marvel and DC put out is that it really ISN'T. They want the titilation of boobs and blood without the complications questionable material puts on a story. So you end up with half-hearted (not the original organ I was gonna refer to....) stories that are too questionable for kids but too shallow for adults. "Identity Crisis" was a great example of this: they wanted the emotional impact and grown-uppedness of a character getting raped, but they portrayed it as vaguely as possible (I had to think about what was going on to figger it out. Dr. Light must have the power of "put pants back on at superspeed.") and then sort of ignore it for the rest of the story. (I don't think the word "rape" is used at any point.) And it added NOTHING. Dr Light could have slapped Sue around for a page or so and the story wouldn't change AT ALL.

So if you want to do grown-up books take some repsonsibility and DO books for grown-ups. If you don't have the guts, don't kid yourself. Marvel and DC are kidding themselves.

              >When the last generation of comic book readers die off I wonder who they think they will publish this crap for?

You're doing it again.... I don't think comics are in danger of dying out at all. As a matter of fact, take a trip to any bookstore and you'll see that they're probably doing better now than they have in 10 years. Maybe not Marvel and DC... but there's more to comics than just these two. Always was.

Way to go, Marvel...You've made Professor X a lying, manipulative creep...Came up with the messed-up concept of the "Ultimate" line...Made Magneto a Junkie...Killed Captain America...F*&%ed up Spider-Man beyond belief (with mystical spider avatar crap, organic web-shooters and stingers, Weaving cocoons around himself to super-heal himself, etc...), then messed him up even more by regressing him to basically an adolescent...Now you're having Cyclops send out a team of mutants to kill people? What happened to "X-men don't kill"? Whatever happened to heroes don't kill?

Current Marvel execs really are ruining this company. Marvel's heroes are very quickly ceasing to be heroes at all.

More idiotic than funny. Is Marvel run by Liefeld now?

^^ No. Although He did draw the 1st like 13 issues of the origional X-Force.

After Reading the 1st issue lastnight,.. I kinda liked it, compaired to the rest of the crap I've read lately in Marvel. It is real dark... But it kinda makes sense. As far as The Direction of Cyclops & this new X-Force Goes. It is weird seeing Cyclops giving out the orders for a "seek & destroy" mission,.. but Mutants have been Hunted & killed so much in recent yrs,.. that they are almost extinct. What would you do ? If your race was hunted, & killed ? Capture the badies , so they can kill you another day ? Cyclops does tell Wolverine that this kinda work is not X-men work, nore... need to relate it to the X-men. I am giving the books a try,.. after reading the book, I liked it.

^^^ Since you read it, BK, what's up with the red eyes? Night Vision goggles? Staying up late drinking?? Sand in their eyes? And I just noticed thay are all ripping off Batman's color scheme.
