The lean mean killing machine likely means that we'll get plenty of extreme violence and gore to the point of fatigue, cause that sort of thing is what makes comics grown up.Places to find PlaidStallions online: https://linktr.ee/Plaidstallions

This is what passes for new ideas at DC today and I find myself asking "Why?". Is someone else using your name really a compelling story? Is that all they can bring to the table to keep things fresh and edgy? Almost everything I've seen them do with these characters has been cosmetic. It seems as though they're redesigning and then tacking on a story later. When in reality the story should lead and they should redesign where necessary dictated by the story. Not the other way around. But in the end they deliver poor 90s video game style redesigns and story lines that aren't really worth their salt.Think OUTSIDE the Box! Lobo's never been a character I cared about, but why not just make a new character with that design. Makes no sense.
Sort of like the redesign of Amanda Waller as skinny and young. She's the same character in name only, so why use the name for a supporting character?
DC also made Harvey Bullock skinny and good looking in Batman Year One.
DC has it out for fat, ugly people. It's a conspiracy, I say.Last edited by madmarva; Aug 24, '13, 10:22 AM.Comment

>Is someone else using your name really a compelling story?
It worked for the Tick.
>Almost everything I've seen them do with these characters has been cosmetic.
That's something I DEFINITELY agree with. But I feel sorry for them, in a way. They've been stuck in the 80's since.... well, the 80's. Same ideas over and over, dressed up a bit with new art. 'Course the majority of their fans are the oldsters who've been hanging on for whatever reason.... and any REAL change DC makes is gonna raise their ire like nothing else. So they're stuck. Too afraid to do something genuinely new, too mired in the past. What the comics REALLY need to do is another Silver Age. Scrub everything clean. Mix it up. Make the books relevant for the CURRENT generation of comic fans. (and yes, there IS a current generation of fans. SOMEBODY'S been buying almost 50 volumes of "Prince of Tennis.") And to hell with the oldsters. WE'RE what's holding them back.
>likely means that we'll get plenty of extreme violence and gore to the point of fatigue
....something Lobo isn't known for at all....

The Tick was still not an established character when that was done. Also the Tick is really parody, That story was actually pretty funny and an excellent Batman spoof......

It was the 80's he was in New wave mode......lol also he went under the Radar......outside of me, I knew no one who collected Omega men....lolComment

OK..this is another image that is posted at DC which appears to be different then the 2 images (which are also included) in this thread:
This looks more like Lobo
Lobo-New-52-Concept-Art-01.jpg
Link: http://www.dccomics.com/blog/2013/08...lobos-new-look
...but according to DC's Bob Harras:
There was a lot of thought put into how the real Lobo should look. Kenneth Rocafort’s various interpretations blew us away, but the design we landed on as the final choice is the last one in the above gallery.
In this design, Ken updated Lobo’s facial tattoos and weaponry by adding laser edges to his blades and gloves that’ll give him extra strength with their mechanical usage. In the end, Ken transformed Lobo into a lean, mean killing machine.
...which means that the 1st image posted is the NEW Lobo.
UGH!!!Everyone is Entitled to MY Opinion...Your's, not so much!Comment

HAW! Then he went hair metal in the late 80's.

Should I be proud, or ashamed?

The new designs are VERY Warhammer 40K Dark Eldar:

Apparently this is the 3nd go-round already at updating Lobo's backstory in the New 52. First by Rob Liefeld in "Deathstroke", then as a villain by Jim Starlin in "Stormwatch" and
now this new treatment.Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!Comment
