Apparently, LE dropped Superman vs Batman (Man of Steel 2) in favor for Interstellar. I honestly don't know if this is good or bad. Does that mean another studio will have to finance it now?

Warner Bros. and Legendary's contract negotiations broke down and it was officially announced in July Legendary would partner with NBC-Universal and WB would partner with Dune Entertainment.
This was all done prior to the announcement of the Superman/Batman movie. So the movie is still on. I believe Nolan will still be involved as a producer, but other than getting the process started I don't think he had a ton of influence on Man of Steel. Or at least that's what has been reported.
There was spin on both sides but it seems Legendary wanted to be more picky about what it co-produced than WB would like, and supposedly WB wanted to exert more control of properties than Legendary wanted to release.
Honestly, if Nolan was only going to have token influence, if any, on the up-coming super hero films, I can see why WB would want to take more control back. Supposedly, Dune is just providing the capital and not really calling the shots like Legendary. Now, with the WB's super hero film track record who knows if that is good or bad? DC executive Diane Nelson did a great job with sheppherding of the Potter films, but I'm not sure if that will be a major part of her duties with running DC.
A key fear for some is that an investment partnership that Brett Rattner is involved with is Dune's key financier. Some fear Rattner will take or be given a role like Kevin Feige has at Marvel or one like Nolan evidently turned down. After x-men 3 and his other films, some fans don't want him to even get a sniff of DC characters.
So the Interstellar announcement in and of itself probably shouldn't be a concern, but it's hard to believe all systems are go on DC Movie Universe - although I'm sure there are some plans in the making - unless Superman-Batman does Dark Night or at least Dark Night Rises numbers at the box office.Last edited by madmarva; Aug 20, '13, 10:25 AM.
