    Hmmmm....

Y'know.... I don't think they're worried about confusing the viewers. I think most folks will go see anything with explosions.... but Bale is the no-brainer. The films he was in did well, so the suit worried about his cushy job is OF COURSE gonna offer the guy a zillion dollars to be in the next one. That way if it tanks, Mr Suit can say "I dunno boss, it's not my fault. I hired the TOP GUY! I guess he let us down this time...." If Mr Suit had gone with someone else, or *gasp* a no-name then his boss would say "WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!?! Hiring this schmo for the biggest film ever! You're fired!"

CYOA runs any large organization. That's why you see the same names all the time; they're safer. Same reason you see the same characters, same stories, same scenes....

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that the source on the $50 million offer is sketchy and that the info is 7 months old. So who knows.

          http://insidemovies.ew.com/2013/08/1...an-50-million/

          Here's EW's summation:

But the fact is, Warner Bros. is still looking for its Batman, and last we heard from Bale on the matter, he said, “I enjoy looking forward to what somebody else will come up with.” Admittedly, that was in July, but that was also seven months after the sketchy conversation that launched the $50 million rumor.

Enough with Bale.... I want Batman... not a guy who fights alongside a crowd and flys around in that thing so much...
Gimme rooftop Bats. I want the DARK Knight...

My son is 8 now and we watched 1989 "Batman" the other night.
Watch the first 10 mins of Keaton in Batman. Thats better than Bale.

Christian Bale, 39, portrayed the caped crusader in Christopher Nolan's 'Dark Knight' movie trilogy. He had previously ruled out returning to the long-rumoured DC Comics superhero team-up project, reported Sun Online.

"Bale is facing extraordinary pressure," a source said.
Granted, it's fun to speculate. But this is the weakest fabrication of a real news story I've seen make the rounds in a long time.

Bale should pass...like someone already said...he will easily make that money in other types of movies.

Bale is a very good actor...a leading man...if he keeps up with this Batman business...he's gonna typecast himself...and goodbye A-list roles.

That thought crossed my mind. It's not as easy to get typecast today, but going back to a role you famously said you were done with may do it.

I find this really lazy. I don't think Bale is needed to sell this movie.

It's nowhere near the same as Downey not being in the Avengers, if you've been alive for the last 25 years, you've seen many actors pick up the cowl. The public will buy another guy as batman*

*providing other guy isn't Wallace Shawn or Jim J Bullock.

I am hoping for a new continuity that doesn't include the Baleverse. I'd be happy if a new Batman came across well enough that he could be spun off into his own reboot in a couple of years. If not, no biggie. The movie better be strong enough that it doesn't need Bale.

I agree that the role has been recast so much in modern times that audiences won't get hung up on it. We had Keaton, Kilmer and Clooney in a succession of 8 years.

As a brand, Batman is bigger than Bale. I agree Bale is an A-list talent, but how many films other than Batman movies have been blockbusters with him as the lead?

But from his choices as an actor, I don't think he's tried to build a Cruise or Will Smith-type of reputation where his name alone sells a film.

He was great in The Fighter. He and Amy Adams made the movie, but Wahlburg was the star. However, Bale's supporting role was the best one in the film.

Warners can survive his loss but it probably won't be able to get as talented of an actor for the part or one that would bring as much box office for that particular role.

But again, Warners is going to have to recast Batman at some point. Why not now?

If they really want an old Batman, who is wearing armor like in Dark Knight Returns, why not bring back Micheal Keaton?

Micheal Keaton is an Old Fart.......that's why. No Movie executive will even consider casting Keaton. That ship has sailed.

Keaton would be my choice for an "old Dark Knight" Bruce, but his ship HAS sailed as far as "marquee value" and no studio exec wants to carry that on their shoulders. Admittedly, Keaton's Batman is probably not volatile enough for today's audience... Keaton was a "cooler kind of cruel" Batman. I believe they're gonna be looking for a Bale-a-like in the upcoming flick... at the same time I'm also convinced they're not seriously considering Bale as the news sources that played into this thread would lead you to believe.
