He ought to take the money, but I hope he doesn't. Warners is going to have to recast he part at some point and they might as well do it now.
Bale was good in the part, perhaps even the best Screen Batman, but Nolan and Ledger were the true star power of the trilogy, to me. -
Bale has a good reputation as an actor and as Batman. But that Batman story is over. He should walk away. He'll likely make $50 million off his next three pictures alone. He doesn't need this. And honestly NOW is the time for Warner Bros. to reboot Batman in a more traditional comic-flavored outfit. Let go of the rubber Hollywood!Comment

Hmmmm....
Stuff like that kinda makes me sad. $200 mil. is still considered a lot to spend on a film, and for a budget like that you've already spent more than a quarter of that on one name. That's money taken out of the actual production.
Sure, the films were popular, but it's not like you couldn't find someone else who can mumble through a rubber hood.

Is it for one film, or a 3-film option? If it's for 3, he shouldn't take it. He should have the clout to negotiate after each film.
But Don's right about the money. I think the Batman brand is bigger than Bale, who outside of the Batman films is an outstanding character actor but not an audience-driving super star. He's not positioned his career that way or taken the right roles.
I believe there is more excitement about the prospect of finding a new Batman, than there is having Bale back for a fourth time.Comment

I'd love to have Bale back, but it would compromise the Nolan films. I now feel DKR is a bit flawed, but overall still a satisfying end to that Batman's story. Having Bale back as Bruce Wayne would make my fanboy brain explode. I suppose he could portray the Batman of an alternate reality, much like Kevin Conroy has voiced many Batmen who can't possibly fit into the BTAS/STAS/BB/JLU continuity.
But $60 million? I'd play Batman, Alfred and Lucius Fox for that if I were him!

One step forward, one step back. Kudos to WB for going forward with the Supes/Bats thing but why on earth go back to Bale? He was decent in the role, but not 60 million decent. Having Bale creates confusion if they are expanding a new universe. Crap idea.I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.
If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.Comment

The problem is, for better or worse Bale is the guy the general public thinks of when they think of Batman at this particular moment in time. People complained it was too soon to recast Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man after five years.
Recasting Batman after only two years might not sit too well with moviegoers. And yes, it would no doubt confuse some people.
Never underestimate the power of dumb.Comment

^^ That same power of dumb is what will confuse people if WB totally chucks the Nolan Bat-Continuity.You must try to generate happiness within yourself. If you aren't happy in one place, chances are you won't be happy anyplace. -Ernie BanksComment
