The KILLER week for the All Star Squadron fan in me...

Huge fan of All Star Squadron. Probably a bigger fan of All Star than I am of Perez/Wolfman Titans. Also trying to find original art for All Star is like pulling teeth....very slow and very painful. Well, this is what went up for auction this week...the only one I bid on that I thought I may have had a chance at was the cover for #30. Weeks like this I wish I had more "liquid funds". Bowed out at $1688. By the time I went back to go up to $2000 it went beyond what I was going to bid:

Love me some All-Star Squadron. A great set of pages to have would be the two double-page spreads showing the entire membership roll call from issue #31 (I think that's right), drawn by Rick Hoberg. And ANY page by Jerry Ordway would be a highlight of a collection!

It's just a sketch and not All Star Squadron, but it is Ordway and Captain Marvel up for Auction on eBay.

And that prelim is from the man himself. It's been a while since he put a prelim on ebay. Great to deal with...and he uses his paypal receipts that he puts in the package as a sketch just to say thanks. I've got my eye on this one

That's a great spread. My favorite spread was the JLA-JSA one from an old JLA comic late 60s or early 70s. I first came across a reprint of it in a paperback comic book trivia book.

Do you mean the Murphy Anderson one with the JSA, or the George Perez one with both teams? Either would be fantastic to own...and would set you back a cool fortune, I'd imagine!

I thought Anderson did both teams. I know the Perez one, too. It's a beauty as well. I'm probably melding the two together. I know either of them are well beyond my grasp.

Anderson is one of my favorites. His pencils were great and his inks made all the artists look better, imo.
